Well-known for its ring of parkland with lots of green space on the ever flowing river Torrens, Adelaide is a city bursting with culture, English flavors, events, and entertainment. Home to the Art Gallery of South Australia and the annual city festival, those who are looking for a spin-off can very well feel welcomed in the city of Adelaide. Students can join in the party to explore more of the city’s wonders and head to view the panoramic coastal scenery, award-winning vineyards, more of the wineries, and Limestone coast. Here are the five weekend getaways that students can check out for much needed leisure time in the company of new friends in Adelaide. Students must ensure staying within easy access to transport facilities near their student accommodation Adelaide.

Barossa Valley

Located 60 km North East of South Australia’s Adelaide city, The Barossa is world renowned for the finest ‘Shiraz’, a red wine grape variety and home to some of the finest wineries like Jacob Creeks and Penfolds. The wineries offer cellar door sales and free tastings. Students can take a weekend trip to this valley and should make sure they drive to explore the substantial 912 square kilometers to get from one winery to the other. The valley also serves some award winning food and also has within the vicinity, the artisan, butchers, bakers, cheesemakers, award-winning vineyards, and breweries. The site is also proud of its caravan parks to make things more merrier for both tourists and students alike.

Kangaroo Island

Australia is well-renowned for being the land of Kangaroos and next to the best is the way to Kangaroo Islands in Adelaide. It is a wildlife paradise and has some of the best beaches. Whether it is about exploring the Remarkable Rocks, or interacting with the friendly seals, you can expect to get a lifetime of experience. Students can stroll down the trails of Flinders Chase National Park and also explore Little Sahara sand dunes. Apart from the strolls, students can taste the local delicacies; good cheese, oysters, gin, and some fine wine as well. There are two ways to reach Kangaroo Island either by a 30-minute flight from Adelaide or a taking a car upon ferry from Jervis that takes around 45-minutes of the ride (It takes a 2 hour drive to reach Jervis from Adelaide).

Clare Valley

This is one of the best getaway sites that South Australia has to offer, with more than 50 cellar doors that fall between the towns of Auburn and Clare, along with a stunning 40km corridor. This place is also no less in offering 5-star wineries with its signature wine, Riesling, which is the world's best of them all. There are some awarded cellar door sales with a visit to the nearby town Sevenhill, Watervale, Mintaro, Auburn, and Polish Hill River. Victor Harbour

Students can just spare an hour for the drive from Adelaide to reach the Victor Harbour located on the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is the place where they can find a unique amalgamation of wildlife, surfing sport, and sand dunes. Not very far from this getaway is the Granite Island, which is the home of the little penguins and an amusing place to take a boat tour to see Southern Right whales during the months from June to October. If there are ample days to spare, then catered apartments make up for a great stay.
