Within the temple halls are stunning carved pillars and floral designs on the ceilings, and the temple is famous for housing the world’s tallest Hanuman Murti statue outside of India, standing at 85ft.

Gasparee Caves

The Gasparee Caves are one of the most breath-taking natural phenomenons in Trinidad & Tobago. Set 100ft underground on the island of Gaspar Grande, this system of limestone caves and caverns comprise of impressive rock formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, bats and a crystal clear salt water pool that is fed by seawater and reflects light that enters the cave. You can explore this natural cave system via guided tours that teach you all about this natural wonder.

Temple in the Sea

This stunning Hindu Temple was constructed by Indian labourer Sewdass Sadhu in 1947, and was later destroyed by the government due to being built on owned Caroni land. With sheer determination Sadhu rebuilt this temple on the sea, and it was fully completed in 1995 after Sadhu’s death as a restored place of worship. Temple in the Sea is surrounded by colourful flags and foliage and Hindu deities are displayed. There’s also a dominant statue of Siewdass Sadhu himself upon entrance to the temple.

Pitch Lake

Pitch Lake is the world’s largest natural asphalt lake, holding approx. 10 million tonnes of asphalt. Visitors can walk on the surface of the lake and explore the on-site museum which contains a number of Amerindian artifacts. During the rainy season, small natural pools form on Pitch Lake which you can bathe in, and they are believed to contain healing properties. Pitch Lake is so naturally appealing that it’s considered by local villagers as the Eighth Wonder of the World.

Asa Wright Nature Centre

The AWNC was one of the first established nature centres in the Caribbean, protecting part of the lush Arima Valley. The centre comprises of nearly 1500 acres of tropical forested landscapes and features a diverse selection of fauna and fauna, including 108 mammal species, 55 reptile species, 460 bird species, 25 amphibian species and 817 butterfly species. The AWNC is considered as one of the Caribbean’s top birdwatching spots and is a nature lover’s haven.
