Wedding Invitation Wording That Sends A Message
Posted: Nov 01, 2019
Wedding invitation wording differs depending on the type of wedding invitation that you are sending out. It is very important to use the correct wording especially because you are inviting people that you know, friends as well as family. So, what should you say on your wedding invitation and how much of that should you say? This is very important because of the design of the card, as well as the wording, set the tone for the wedding ceremony. One thing that makes the wording absolutely essential is that the guests will hold on to the cards as souvenirs when the wedding is over. Therefore, you want the words to bring back the memories of your big day.
Just how can you describe your wedding? If it is a formal/traditional kind of wedding, then you should use traditional wording. If it is more of a festive event, then you will want to keep the tone of your wording light and festive too. It is very important that you do not mess anything up. Because you will use the same wording for all guests, you need to consider the fact that you will be inviting people of different ages to the event, and therefore use words and tones that are both friendly, to the point and informative.
Most people today still hold traditional weddings, especially if it is their first marriage. This calls for very formal wedding invitation wording, meaning that the seriousness of the event at hand is conveyed to the guests who receive the cards. Here, nothing is left to chance. Because in most traditional weddings it is the bride’s parents who pay for the wedding, it is only right and official that their names appear first on the wedding invitation. If they would like to honour the groom’s parents, then the groom’s parents’ names follow after the mention of the groom’s name. Use of phrases like "request the honour of the attendance of …" is used quite often.
For a non-traditional wedding, you have more flexibility because you do not necessarily have to use formal wordings. You can use a casual approach here because after all, the guests are people that you know very well. Remember that you should only invite close friends and maybe casual acquaintances, but the idea is to keep business out of the wedding. Very friendly language and tone are used. In this kind of wedding invitation wording, you can use phrases like "come celebrate with us, come witness as we begin our new journey of love"
It does not matter whether it is a traditional or non-traditional event, but your wedding invitation wording should show a bit of formality because marriage is very important. Remember not to leave important details like the time, venue and the date. Use miss and Mrs. correctly as those will show the status of the people wedding (maybe they are from divorcees). Remember that your wording should reflect the formality or casualness of the event. Thankfully, it should be easy because here, we will teach you everything you need to know.
