Young men and women today have become more conscious of how they look and the fitness levels they can maintain to address the daily challenges of life. They are hitting the gyms, making changes in their diet plans and trying new supplements - such as body mass gainer powder

  • in their efforts to stay healthy and imbibe more confidence. While the pressures of social media are self inflicted, the youngsters in the 20 - 35 age group do want to look attractive and ‘Instagram-worthy’.

If you have a mission to fulfil in terms of body building, you must have chalked out a plan to reach your targets. Just avoid some common mistakes that make it more difficult to attain the image you envision for yourself. Some of them are:

Using weights that you cannot manage right

Everyone wants to get stronger in minimum time but forcing yourself to lift heavy weights at all costs is a serious progress killer. Body builders often use weights that they cannot manage correctly.

If you feel any discomfort with the weights you are currently using, cut them back by 10%. Then gradually tighten the exercise to make it more effective. After using the same weights for at least a month or two, you can move on to the next level while always ensuring that you use the right technique.

Such habits will reward you with new muscle growth and you can progressively keep working into new poundage zones for more strength.

Taking the wrong or too many supplements

You may be using a combination of granola bars, beverages and protein powders to gain the right body mass and up your energy levels. However, not all products in the market provide the benefits that they claim or you expect. Ensure that you have access to the right body mass gainer by comparing their composition and reviews online. Also, avoid taking too many of these artificial protein sources. Ask your trainer or dietician for the right meal plan.

Practising the same exercises everyday

Most people who develop a love for body building at a young age usually have a limited number of exercises that they call their favourite. They make these workouts staple in their routine. Although there is nothing wrong in prioritising some movements, other exercises should not be neglected in their favour.

It is good to revise the exercise choices periodically because the changes will work in your favour. Firstly, it helps in preventing the ‘repeated-bout impact’ that causes muscles to get accustomed to the repetitive use of same movements, making them more and more resistant to strain. By averting such accommodation, you can enable more of structural disturbance to muscle fibres. This damage encourages muscle growth over time.

You can also diversify your exercises by changing modalities, training angles, movement planes and simply the spacing between hands and feet.

Neglecting the health and lifestyle problems

The right balance of diet, protein supplements and workouts when followed religiously do bring desired results. In addition to the precautions mentioned above, you should also look out for the signs of over exercising and consult your trainer for changes in gym routine, if you experience any of them:

-Problems in getting adequate and restful sleep

-Unusual changes in your energy levels, moods and emotions

-Digestion problems

-Consistently increased blood pressure and heart rate

Fix the problems early and they will not hold you back from your potential.
