The Business Analysis as a competency has become dynamic in the increasingly complex business world. With ever-increasing business complexities, the challenges are increasing on the functional side more compared to the technical side.

IIBA has multi-level Business Analysis certification framework, IIBA has planned the certification levels to enable Business Analysts to benchmark their competency and knowledge according to the BABOK (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge).

IIBA certification offers four Business Analysis Certifications for different levels of experience, three of which involve a written examination process.

ECBA- Entry Certificate in Business Analysis

CCBA- Certification of Capability in Business Analysis

CBAP – Certified Business Analysis Professional

CBATL- Certified Business Analysis Thought Leader

ECBA – It is an Entry-level Certificate in business analysis offered by IIBA. It is a starting line to plan your career in business analysis.

The qualification reflects that, knowledge of advanced Business analyst techniques & concepts that help you manage the project successfully.

Any Individuals can get this internationally recognized Certification without having any BA experience.

Are there any Eligibility criteria for ECBA?

  • No Work Experience required
  • Minimum 21 hours of Professional Development Training (PDT) in the past 4 years

CCBA – It a Certification for competency in business analysis. BA professionals who have 2 to 3 years of BA experience. The certification is suitable for experienced business analysis practitioners with 3,750 hours of experience. For this certification one necessarily does not need to a designated "Business Analyst" but minimum experience in knowledge areas defined by IIBA is mandatory.

Are there any Eligibility criteria for CCBA?

  • You have Minimum 3750 hours of BA work experience aligned with the BABOK v3 Guide in the last 7 years.
  • Minimum 900 hours in each of 2 of the 6 knowledge areas or minimum 500 hours in each of 4 of the 6 knowledge areas.
  • Minimum 21 hours of Professional Development Training (PDT) in the past 4 years

CBAP – It’s a Certification for business analysis professionals. BA professionals who lead and have more than 5 years of BA experience. The certification is suitable for business analysts with extensive 7,500 hours of experience but willing to improve their expertise.

Are there any Eligibility criteria for CBAP?

  • You have Minimum 7500 hours of BA work experience aligned with the BABOK v3 Guide in the last 10 years
  • Minimum 900 hours in the 4 of the 6 knowledge areas
  • Minimum 35 hours of Professional Development Training in the past 4years

CBATL – It’s a Certified Business Analysis Thought Leader. CBATL certification does not have an exam as we have in ECBA. CCBA and CBAP. CBATL is a certification for Senior Business Analysts who have over 10 years of experience and wish to contribute and give back to the BA community. CBATL is the top-level certification exclusively for senior Business Analysts who can also be considered as thought leaders.

Exam Pattern

ECBA: Exam location/ Mode is an Online Proctored exam via PSI from any location. It is a 1.5 hours long Exam, In which 50 MCQ (Multiple choice questions) are there. This test includes basic multiple-choice questions to test the student’s knowledge and understanding of the BABOK knowledge areas like Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring, Elicitation and Collaboration, Requirements Analysis and Design Definition, Requirements Life Cycle Management, Solution Evaluation, and Strategy analysis.

CCBA: Exam location/ Mode is a Prometric test center available in all major global cities. The duration of this exam is 3 hours, In which 130 scenarios or case study based MCQ (Multiple choice questions) are asked.

CBAP: Exam location/ Mode is a Prometric test center available in all major global cities. It’s a 3.5 hours long Exam, In which 120 MCQ (Multiple choice questions) are there. The questions are the long case study that you have to answer in the MCQ base only.
