This grandeur monument is home to exhibits, artefacts, memorabilia and antiques from the 19th and 20th century which allow an interesting insight into Victorian cultures and traditions in Johannesburg over 100 years ago. The rooms here have been intricately decorated and furnished and the house is currently resided by Katherine Love.

Opening hours: 10am-5pm daily (by appointment only with tours)

3.Origins Centre Museum

Embark on an incredible journey in educating yourself about the rich cultural heritage of Africa at the Origins Centre Museum, which has a captivating collection of ancient artefacts, stone tools, fossils and South African rock art dating back thousands of years. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 10am-17pm, Saturdays 10am-16pm

4.South African National Museum of Military History

The South African National Museum of Military History was founded in 1947 and is home to various exhibits, official records, weapons, aircraft, photographs, personal journals and other artefacts from the battles and conflicts that the country was involved in, including World War I & II, the Anglo-Boer Wars and the Anglo-Zulu War. The Boer War Memorial is a highlight, which is devoted to those who lost their lives during this war.

Opening hours: 9am-16.30pm daily

5. Johannesburg Art Gallery

This world-class gallery space is set in downtown Johannesburg and boasts one of the largest art collections in South Africa. The building that the Johannesburg Art Gallery is set in is a work of art itself, designed by British architect Edward Lutyens and inside are over 9000 art masterpieces across exhibition halls and sculpture gardens, including contemporary South African art and 17th century Dutch paintings.
