Christmas is the season to be in Singapore. The weather is perfect, people are in a great mood, and there’s celebration all around. So, if you are looking to have an awesome Christmas, Singapore is the only place to consider. But Singapore is huge, and it would help if knew all the best places to spend Christmas. So, here are few places that will make your Singapore Christmas extra special.
Universal Studios Singapore
Universal Studios come from Hollywood, so, why wouldn’t they celebrate Christmas in a grand fashion? Every year, they have a grand Christmas event at the park and many people from Singapore, and tourists, come here just for that. The whole park is decorated in the Christmas spirit. You will also find many whimsical characters Toy Soldiers and other popular mascots all around, and you can interact and take selfies with them. But this is not all. There’s also a Christmas Gift Show, and a huge fireworks display that lights up the sky. Oh, and the best part is, there’s a shower of snow. Now, imagine how magical that place would be looking.
Gardens by the Bay
Christmas in a garden? You bet! Gardens by the Bay is one of the best places where you can enjoy Christmas. They hold an event named ‘A Christmas Wonderland’, which is traditional as it can get. It is actually a festive market full of shopping, rides and attractions. The whole place is decorated to look like London’s Hyde Park, complete with snow covered cottages and tiny fireplaces. There are some notable decorations too like a carousel where you can take pictures, and an Ice Palace. One of the best features here is the food. From chocolate covered churros to heart-warming eggnog, it is quite a feast. And for kids to enjoy themselves, there an ice rink for skating, and lots of artificial snow for snowball fights. This place will make you feel like you are in Europe celebrating Christmas.
The Orchard Road is one of the best place to shop in Singapore, any time of the year. But during Christmas, the road is transformed into an extra special place. From Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura, the whole road is covered in colourful lights. This is a stretch of more than 3 kilometres. The shops on the roads have Christmas sales, offers and discounts ongoing, so, you can also do some cheap last minute shopping. There are also many food joints and restaurants here that serve festive cuisine. And if you are still looking for more entertainment, there are performances held from 18th to 23rd December in front of Wisma Atria and Ion Orchard. So, if you are looking for a simple yet fun time, head to Orchard Road during christmas time.
You must have heard of a white Christmas, but have you heard of an underwater Christmas? That is what you get at S.E.A. Aquarium in Resorts World Sentosa. This is one of the best place, and the most unique places to spend Christmas in Singapore. The event is punily named ‘Merry Fishmas’ and it truly is. The whole place is decorated to match the season, and you have carol singers belting out classic Christmas carols. You also have a scuba Santa who actually swims around in the aquarium dressed a Santa Claus, and feeds the fishes. It’s quite an entertaining frenzy. You will sure have a great and memorable time here.
Some people love to give back during Christmas, and if you would love to do that too, come to Vivocity. During Christmas time, Vivocity hosts a booth called My Christmas Wish that collects money for underprivileged families. Your donation can ensure a family has a memorable Christmas. Vivocity also has 107 foot tall Christmas tree, under which you can take pictures. The light on the tree are actually performance lights and there are choreographed shows every evening. There are also handbell performers performing all over Vivocity. There’s a wonderful atmosphere all around, making Vivocity a great place to celebrate Christmas.
