Forts In Rajasthan: Rajasthan Tourism

Rajasthan is also named "Rajputana: land of Kings" whereas, now the largest state of the Republic of India. Rajasthan is a cultural heritage state of India, there are several people contributed to it, namely Meenas, Gurjars, Rajputs, and Jats. All these groups or clan divided Rajasthan into regions and built many structural monuments and in result added some value to the state. Rajasthan is mostly based in Aravali Mountain Range and it was quite remarkable to make such architectural structure from the 5th century to17th-18th century AD. So here is the list of some most recommendable forts or architecture in Rajasthan that worth to visit, at least once in a lifetime.

1. Amer Fort: Located in the Amer village, built-in 1592 AD on the leftovers of Man Singh of Rajput Clan and further expanded by his descendant, just 11km far from Jaipur city.

This Structure was further updated by numerous changes until 1727, But then, the ruler Named Sawai Jai Singh 2, founded the Jaipur City.

This massive Structure includes 4 Courtyards:

    • 1st Courtyard, called "Jaleb Chowk" used for the assembly of soldiers and a Temple named "Shitla Mata Temple".
    • 2nd Courtyard, this place was named as " Diwan-Ai-Aam", where people used to gather for the general assemblies.
    • 3rd Courtyard, it was private space for all the rulers or maharajas and it includes Mughal Gardens, The tripoli Gate, The Lion Gate and of course a Sheesha mahal.
    • 4rd Courtyard, This place was the house of all the queens, courtesans and women.

2. Chittorgarh Fort: This fort was made in the 7th Century by Mauryans and it is the largest fort in India. As its height is around 590 feet in an area of 690 acres. Chittorgarh was ruled by Udai Singh 2 and later invaded by Akbar and founded Udaipur as the Capital of Mewar in 1559.

This fort has seven gates, namely Bhairon Pol, Hanuman Pol, Pandon Pol, Jodla Pol, Ganesh Pol, Laxman Pol, and Ram Pol.

With some Identicals representing the history of the state like Kirti Stambh, Fatah Prakash, Vijay Stambh, Rana Kumbha Palace, Gaumukh reservoir and Padmini's palace.

  1. Mehrangarh Fort: In 1459, Maharaja Rao Jodha Singh, moved the Capital Marwar to Jodhpur and laid the foundation of Mehrangarh Fort. This fort was 400 feet above the city and this fort is a combination of palaces and Courtyards, totally based on the architecture followed by Rajputana's. Maharaja Rao Jodha Singh also made some remarkable monuments in this fort such as "Moti Mahal", "Sheesha Mahal", "Phool Mahal", "Takhat Vilas", and some Museums, Temples like "Chamuda Mataji Temple" the Goddess worshipped by the whole City of Jodhpur till now.
  2. Jaisalmer Fort: This Fort was Built-in 1159 AD by Rajput King "Rao Jaisal", this fort is situated on Trikuta Hill in the Thar Desert. Due to that, this fort has Yellow stone walls, further named as " The Golden Fort". This fort is majorly attracted because of the following things:
    • The Raj Mahal (the royal palace)
    • Jain Temples
    • Lakshminath Temple
    • 4 Gateways and merchant Havelis and houses.

    5. Kumbhalgarh Fort: Initially, in 15th century Ad and later developed by the 19th century. This fort is 82 km away from the city of Udaipur and the wall of the fort is 36 km long, 25 feet thick and the 2nd largest wall in Asia after china wall.

    So Rajasthan Tourism invites to come and explore all the historical monuments of the Rajasthan.
