The teacher too, is a student

It often seems as though a person who has gained wisdom enough to guide and teach others must be all-knowing and omniscient. However, this isn’t necessarily true. The process of acquiring knowledge never really comes to an end, no matter what age or position an individual attains in life. As students, it’s a basic duty to honor our teachers for their experience and wisdom, nevertheless, an ideal teacher would also understand that there’s a lot which she can learn from her students as well, and instead of feeling insulted when such an opportunity arises, would make the best of it. Doing so doesn’t make the teacher seem inadequate or unprofessional; instead, I think it creates even more respect and reverence for the teacher in her students’ minds. By establishing that she herself is a scholar and is open to learning further, the teacher makes it easier for her pupils to relate to and open up to her and creates an environment in which they are free to correct her and share additional facts and information that they may have to share. Simply by doing this, a classroom can evolve from just that into a place where knowledge flows freely; instead of being a formal relationship between a ‘superior’ and her ‘inferiors’, the teacher-student dynamic can transform into a link between individuals whose interaction mutually enriches and improves all the parties concerned. In my opinion, this is one step that can definitely help a lot towards creating a more positive association between teachers and students.
