Imagine patting your pockets to find them empty and phone-less! Your precious iPhone gone, missing, poof! Everyone’s worst nightmare is losing their phone or having it stolen. Luckily, with great advancements in technology, it is easy to track your phone and find its location. Let’s look at how to track an iPhone by phone number.

How to Track Your iPhone by Your Number

Apple has ensured that it is easy to locate a missing or stolen iPhone. Additionally, you can find your phone irrespective of what phone network you use. And so, whether you have an AT&T or Verizon or use a virtual phone number, you should be able to locate your phone. There are a few different ways you can go about finding your missing phone’s location. And in some cases, you can do so even if the phone is offline.

Locate With "Find My iPhone" Turned On

If you turn "Find My iPhone" on before the phone goes missing, then you can use the app to get it back. To turn on "Find My iPhone" in your phone settings:

Open "Settings"

Choose "Find my iPhone"

Then, select "Find My iPhone"

And then turn on "Enable Offline Finding"

You may also choose to turn on "Send Last Location." This sends your phone’s location to Apple when the battery is critically low.

With these settings enabled, you can easily find the location of your phone by using a laptop or another Apple device. To do so:

Log in to your iCloud account using your Apple ID and password on an available device.

Search for the "Find My iPhone" app

Choose between: locating the device, having it play a sound, marking it lost, or erasing it remotely.

View the location: tap the "Devices" tab and select your device.

Have it play a sound: tap the "Devices" tab, select your device, then select "Play Sound." Note: an offline device won’t play a sound until it connects to a network.

Get directions: tap "Devices" and then choose "Directions."

Mark as lost: select "Devices," select your device, scroll down to "Mark As Lost" and select

"Activate." Next, enter a phone number that is displayed on the missing device. Add a custom message to the finder, and then select "Activate." This remotely locks your device until you recover it and unlock it with your passcode.

Remotely erase: tap "Devices" and select the device. Then scroll down and choose "Erase This Device" and select "Erase This iPhone." Note: Once you erase a device, you cannot track it anymore.

Use Phone Tracking Websites or Services

Unfortunately, if you do not activate the "Find My iPhone" settings before you lose your phone, the process of finding it gets complicated. You will then have to locate your phone through other means. So what are your options?

When looking at how to track an iPhone by phone number alone, you may need to consider websites or apps that offer location and phone services. Cocospy iOS is one such application. Cocospy iOS is a parental control app that lets you remotely monitor desired Apple devices. You can use Cocospy to locate your missing or stolen phone by entering the phone number. Additionally, Cocospy will notify you if someone changes the SIM card on the phone and will provide you with the new SIM card information and carrier details.

Starting Searching

As you can tell, it is important to have some kind of system or back up in place so that you are prepared for when your phone gets lost. Now you know how to track an iPhone by phone number and through the "Find My iPhone" app. And, hopefully, this helps you find your missing or stolen phone.
