Often regarded as one of the most award-winning ways to travel, solo travelling is one of the best ways to explore Mother Nature. Renowned as an organic and a distinctly alluring sight of the north-eastern region of the Indian Peninsula, Sikkim is a big wonder in a small package.

I had an opportunity to explore Sikkim in the last year and believe me, it is one of the most picturesque states of the North-eastern frontier of the Indian peninsula. The prismatic beauty and the charismatic charm of this second smallest state of India will genuinely leave you spellbound. So, here is a bit of my experience for the Sikkim solo travelers –

Best Time –

You can plan your Sikkim visit either during the months between March to May or between October to mid of December. While between March to May, you get to witness the blooming natural beauty of Sikkim, the period between October to mid-December feasts your eyes with the picturesque view of the entire Himalayan ranges.

Which places to opt-in your Sikkim Tour Packages?

Well, as now you are planning to travel solo to Sikkim, here are few places to include in your Sikkim tour package list –

Gangtok –

Nestling amidst the hilly mountain ranges of the Eastern Himalayas, Gangtok is a kaleidoscopic tourist spot in Sikkim. Right from its serene natural beauty to lush green forests to gurgling rivers, the town has got enough to load your solo travel bucket list.

Yuksom –

If your adrenaline pumps for some adventurous activity to do in Sikkim, straightaway head towards Yuksom for a trekking expedition. The historical monuments, tranquil waterfalls, and ancient monasteries all add up to the rustic appeal of this town.

Nathula Pass –

One of the historic passes en route the Silk Road, the Nathula Pass, with a height of 4310 meters from the sea level accounts as one of the highest motorable passes in the world.

Pelling –

The beauty of Pelling lies in being an adventurous hub of activities such as rafting, mountain biking, trekking, kayaking, and other adventures.

Rumtek Monastery –

Rumtek Monastery is the best spot to explore the vibrant regional culture and the tradition of the Buddhist influence in Sikkim.

While we have dealt with all the major tourist spots that you can explore on your Sikkim solo tour, here are few tips that I wished I knew earlier –

  • First of all, be it either you first or 10th travel, make sure that you are vigilant enough on your go.
  • Be thorough with your confidence level.
  • As you will be traveling solo, make sure to inform at least your close circle that you are planning a solo trip to Sikkim. This will help people around you to reach your contacts in case of any emergency situation there.
  • Spend a good amount of time researching the place to accommodate yourself on the go. If possible, rather than falling prey to luxuriousness and sophistication, consider the positive ratings and opt for the best one.
  • In the end, be open to communication.
