The weather is warming. The birds are chirping. Can you smell the freedom of summer? It’s coming!

The kids will be out of school, and work tends to slow down during these bright and sunny days. So, why not plan on an epically relaxing summer? One that helps you truly re-charges your batteries. One that nourishes you and gives you amazing memories with those you love. Summer is one of the best times of year for inspiration and joy.

So, here are 5 Ways to Ensure an Epically Relaxing Summer Ahead

1. Schedule it in

What gets planned gets done. Period. So, first and foremost take a look at your summer months and BLOCK out time for relaxing. A week-long vacation, long weekends, and simply what you'll do during the week to give you extra self-care. Do not neglect this part! It’s the one MOST IMPORTANT aspect to how your summer will go.

2. Travel (or Not)

With three young kids, traveling is not a stress-free endeavor. Yet, other options are possible to re-charge if travel does not fit your current life situation. Try a couples-only trip, one night in a nearby hotel, or a planned staycation where you plan for minimal house and outside work. It is still possible to get out and explore, you may just need to be more creative.

3. Create Traditions With Your Family

Summer is a beautiful time of year to make memories that last a lifetime. Check out 10 4th of July Traditions to Start Now to make the most of our holiday. Then, take a few moments to create weekly family rituals that bring you closer. Establish a weekly summer family meal, reading picnics, or special time with friends to make the most of your time.

4. Celebrate Your Freedom

Do not let the months go by without celebrating your lazier days of summer. Make up your own fun holidays! Declare movie day, beach day, couch day, mimosa day. Whatever you want to celebrate the freedom that only summer brings. Or participate in national ice cream day on July 19th and any other small (completely made up) holidays.

5. Find Your Summer Muse

Rest time allows for inspiration and ambitious thinking. It’s essential for a full and impactful life.

If we work hard the remainder of the year, growth can skyrocket during periods of active rest. So, get out there and find your inspiration. Listen to music that moves you, experience beautiful sights, try a new high quality restaurant. And especially, watch and read motivational content. Relax, but also learn. Seek inspiration and you’ll find it in your daily life.

In Conclusion

There’s absolutely nothing like summertime.

Watermelon, picnics, sprinklers. There’s so much to love about this time of year. And if you work it right, you can use it to become a better version of yourself through much needed rest, beautiful family memories, and actively pursuing what you love.

So, go ahead. Take this summer for yourself. Plan your active rest sessions and come fall, you’ll be shocked at how much three months can do for you.
