If you are prone to allergies when the spring comes up or it is something new that you are discovering, it is time to understand that you can live with them easily. There are ways through which you can minimize the effect of pollens that causes allergies

Here are some of the best ways to live with allergies.

First know the difference between allergies and cold

You must know whether you have allergies or cold. A cold usually lasts for three to four days, and it gets better with rest and treatments. Allergies usually last for weeks and are seasonal. They either start in September or in May.

Also, when you have allergies, you have itchiness around ears, nose, throat, and eyes. You can also get a dry cough from allergies.

Take medicines before allergies set in

If you know that you get seasonal allergies, and it is not new, take preventive measures. You should take allergy medicines before the season start or around the time when you get them.

It is helpful as you can start treating yourself before the symptoms get inflamed and get worse. Also, if you don’t take it before, don’t worry. You can take the medicine right after the first sign of allergies.

Take medicine daily but with advice

There are some over the counter allergies medicines that are okay to take every day. You can get them at the local pharmacy, and you don’t even need a prescription for that.

But it is important to know what medication you will respond to. So, ask your doctor to prescribe it when you get it for the first time. Experimenting with medicines will let you know you respond to which one better, with the least side-effects.

Use nasal steroids

If your allergies are acting up even after taking medication especially around the nose and eyes, you can take a nasal steroid. They are safe and can help loosen up the congestion. Make sure you ask your doctor which nasal steroids are the best for you.

Also, there are quite many formulas for nasal sprays, so you have to work on which one will work for you with your doctor.

Make sure you don’t take them too often because it is an addiction to a kind that is bad for you.

Take some steam to alleviate the congestion

Steam can help with your allergies and can open up your sinuses. It is best to take steam by filling a bucket with hot boiled water and taking in the steam. Or you can try this by running a hot shower and letting the steam fill the bathroom. After that, you can take in the steam from afar. Be careful not to burn yourself.

For chest congestion, ask a physician

There may come a time when you may get dry cough and as a result congestion or wheezing sound in the chest. If that happens, it is best to go see a physician because you might need an inhaler.

Living with allergies is not difficult if you know what to take and who to call if symptoms get severe.
