Given that Canada Federal Skilled Worker programme is a 100 point system. On the contrary a skilled worker for Canadian immigration needs to score a minimum of 67 points to qualify.

This 100 points system is based on certain factors as mentioned below.

Age (maximum score is 12)

If your age is in between 18-35 years you can score the maximum of 12 points. As your age goes high points are reduced. Those people who are 47 or above do not get any points under this factor.

Your highest qualification (maximum score is 25)

The qualifications have been classified as follwoing:

Doctoral degree or Ph.D. level

Professional Degree or Master’s degree

Two or more post-secondary qualification (1 should minimum be of 3 years duration)

Bachelor Degree taken after 12th with a duration of three years or more

Post 12th credential of two years

The post-secondary credential of one year

Secondary school

Proficiency in language (maximum score is 28)

Canada has two official languages: English and French. Under Federal Skilled Worker programme, an applicant can score maximum of 24 points for the English language test and 4 points for the French language. However, a minimum score of CLB level 7 should be scored in the English test to qualify for the FSW programme. To sum up Candidate is tested for their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills under this test.

Skilled work experience (maximum score is 15)

If you have 6 years or more work experience in the last ten years within a NOC you can get a maximum of 15 points and minimum of 9 point for 1 years of work experience.

A job offer letter or arranged employment (the maximum score is 10)

If you get a job offer from a Canadian employer. This employer should be approved by the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) as a result you can score up to 10 points during the selection process for immigration.

Adaptability (the maximum score is 10 points)

Primary applicant’s past employment in Canada (minimum of 1 year)

Courses studied previously in Canada by the main applicant.

Details of work in Canada by applicant’s spouse

Qualification taken in Canada by the accompanying spouse or partner

If you are related to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident by blood you get another 5 points. Also, It can be one of the spouses or one of the parents’ relatives. For example Uncle, Aunt, Nephew, Niece, Father, Mother, Sister or Brother.
