Choosing a Fabulous Family Holiday in Europe

Europe offers so much for families looking for their next great holiday destination. But with all that choice, sometimes it can get confusing as to what location will suit you and your family the best. Perhaps we can help.

In truth, there are really three main holiday types. Of course you can mix and match some aspects, but the three themes remain. These are: going on a beach holiday, somewhere warm, sunny and relaxing; if you are more of the adventurous type of group, you could head to a theme-park or outdoorsy region; and, finally, if you enjoy a slower pace in order to immerse in history and culture, you can head somewhere appropriate for those pursuits.

As soon as you have decided on your destination, purchase a good family holiday insurance policy to cover. You will have no problem getting family holiday insurance to cover these options below.

Beach holidays

Beach holidays to somewhere in the Mediterranean are undoubtedly some of the most popular for Brits to go on with their family. Holiday insurance companies know this well and their policies will be equipped to cover all the popular locations, which only leaves you to worry about where you want to go! A Mediterranean beach holiday is suitable and fun for children (and adults) of all ages. Whether you have small ones want to run on the beach all day and build sandcastles, or if you have teens who want to lie in the sun, read a book and then hit the party spots at night, there is something for everyone in the Mediterranean. You can choose from an island or anywhere along one of the many coastal regions of Europe.

Active Adventure holidays

If you are a family that likes to be on the go all the time, why not book a holiday somewhere that will give you access to a fun theme park and all the outdoor space you could want? Places like Disneyland Paris, or Port Aventura outside of Barcelona are excellent locations, where you can spend the day exploring the park attractions and having a wow of a time with the entire family. The benefit of staying outside the city centre, in these two places in particular, is that you can also easily explore the neighbouring countryside by renting bicycles or hiking.

Cultural trips

For those families who enjoy a more culturally based experience, why not head somewhere classic in Europe like Paris or Rome to explore the wealth of history and arts? Or, perhaps you could be a bit more adventurous and head somewhere like Turkey, so you can immerse in the depths of a history and culture that has played such an important role in world events. (Be advised: family holiday insurance is still a good idea for cultural holidays; even if you only plan to stroll the streets and soak in the atmosphere, it is better to be prepared than sorry.)
