gentle cleansers

Cleansing is probably the most essential step in our skincare routine because it gets off all the nasty grime, that oil we don’t need. It sets the base for all the products that come on really be able to sink through our skin.

But since there are so many cleansers today, we can’t help but wonder, ‘what cleanser best fits my skin type?’

Gentle Cleansers

Skincare varies from person to person and skin type to skin type. However, gentle cleansers work almost the same for everybody. These are cleansers without irritating ingredients that don’t leave the skin feeling stripped, tight or dried out. Again, it depends on person to person, for example, one specific ingredient may be irritating for you but not the other person.

Then texture-wise, gentle cleansers can be the ones that come in a gel, milky and creamy consistency that is lightweight and easily spreadable.

Moreover, they are formulated in such a way that they contain little or no fragrance and is non-comedogenic and is also hypoallergenic.

The surfactants used in the cleansers need also be gentle. Surfactants are ingredients that help your cleansers foam up, and this is what allows the excess sebum and the dirt that is attached to the sebum, to be thoroughly washed off your face. Regular cleansers use sulfate-based surfactants. But when it comes to looking for a gentler cleanser, it will be composed of coconut-based surfactant which will do the job in a much milder way.

pH level

The next thing to look out for is the pH level. These are levels that make a product more acidic (irritating) or alkaline (dry). Our skin has a pH of about 4.5 to 5.5, which is slightly on the acidic side. However, it continually fluctuates as we use different types of water on our skin. Usually, cleansers range from pH 5-6 or 9. So, if we were to find a cleanser that has a higher pH, these are those types that will leave our skin tight and dry after cleansing. The gentle cleansers are ones that have pH formulated close to the skin’s average pH level that is 4.5to 5.5.

Gentle cleansers are ones that don’t feel rough on the skin. It will feel beautiful, so you will be able to use them day and night. That is also coupled with naturally occurring ingredients like the squalene, ceramides that are already found in your skin. So, it is not doing anything more, but it is kind of rebuilding what you already have to work with your skin.

Skin Care

The goal of a skincare routine is to give you the essential building blocks to make sure that your skin is functioning healthily and at its best. A second goal is that it should be complementing and helping you fix and issues that can pop up from time to time or at different stages of your life.

Skincare and beauty routine is an opportunity to notice external changes in our skin because we know that a lot of it has to do with the inside.
