Just What Do You Get When You Get Annual Travel Insurance?

We’ve all heard of the concept of annual travel insurance, even if we haven’t actually booked it ourselves. However if you’re thinking of going away more than once over the next few months it might be worth finding out more about it. That’s what this article aims to help you with.

Unlimited trips away covered under the one policy

There is generally no limit to the number of times you can go away in the 12-month period covered by the policy. For example you could go away for a week, come back for a week and then head off for another week somewhere else, and so on. Your annual travel insurance will cover the lot. This is good to know and it does give you additional freedom if you have the finances to head off on regular occasions. Isn’t that nice to know?

Longer trips included as well as long weekends

Most of us focus on our holidays more than anything else. Two weeks in the summer is typical, but some people only get a week away. But there is also the possibility of heading away for a long weekend from time to time, or maybe a cheap week to Spain to soak up some of their reliable sunshine. If you know there is a chance you’ll do this, your yearly policy will provide ample coverage for all these trips during the 12-month period it is valid for. You won’t have the hassle of having to fork out for another policy whenever you decide to have a few days away from home – and that's a great weight off your mind.

Extra perks

These extras depend on the insurer you book your annual travel insurance with. For example, some insurers provide winter sports coverage free of charge as part of your policy. But don’t take this as read because it certainly doesn’t apply in every case.

The trick is to check through the small print on any policy you are thinking of taking out. Just because every policy you’ve looked at so far has had a particular facility, it doesn’t mean the next one will have it. Consider what you will need from your policy and what you will do on holiday, then make sure the policy you get ticks all those boxes for you.

You can sometimes adjust an annual travel insurance policy so it takes into account anything that isn’t already included. However there are many good policies out there that will provide everything the average traveller will need for an entire year. When it comes to finding your next policy, shop around, take care in choosing what you need and remember the many advantages of this kind of cover.
