Tips For Visiting the Lovely Island of Lanzarote

Planning to visit the beautiful isle of Lanzarote? Airport transfers will get you to your accommodation in a quick and convenient way then it's time to explore. There's so much to see - from the hauntingly beautiful Cueva de los Verdes to the well-equipped Karting Course of San Bartolome.

A few small details, however, are worth noting when travelling around this lovely island.

Bring two layers while travelling

It is worth noting that the average temperature on the island hovers around the 21 to 29 degrees Celsius mark, depending on the time of the year. These temperatures by any means are not that cold - at least not until the wind starts picking up, which happens often on the isle. Only then will a second layer start making sense. The more volcanic areas of the island, however, can become rather warm thanks to the combined effects of geothermic activity and sunlight reflecting off of the rocky ground. This is why you need to bring an extra top that you can quickly shrug into and out of depending on how warm you feel.

Consider turning airport transfers into tour packages

Hiring Lanzarote airport transfers and adding on their full tour packages is a useful option when you are looking for a hassle-free way to explore the island. Not only will you have a guided tour that highlights the best of the island, but you can also negotiate with the transfer service to provide private transport when you want to visit specific sites. This latter option is excellent for visiting smaller, out-of-the-way sites that most tour packages overlook. Never underestimate what you can find in a small family-owned cafe or restaurant!

Keep an eye out for local establishments

Speaking of small surprises, local establishments like cafes, restaurants and farmers markets are a great way to experience the island in the same way as the local patrons. One bonus of chartering Lanzarote airport transfers as private tours is that the drivers can double as local guides. Not only can you visit the major tourist destinations around the island, but their intimate knowledge of the various locales of the island can help you find the local attractions. And another perk of doing so? Most local establishments offer significantly discounted products and services when compared to the more tourist-oriented enterprises around the island.

Convert to Euros

The Euro is the currency of choice in Lanzarote, but don't forget to convert some money before arriving in the country. Not only do many of the local businesses prefer cash over credit, but having to exchange your currency in the airport or in other local currency exchanges may cost you a bit more than you bargained for. Doing so will also save you the hassle of having to waste more of your precious vacation time looking around for someone to trade pounds into euros.

Bring your passport and EHC at all times

Don't forget to bring your passport (obviously) and European Health Card with you to Lanzarote. Airport transfers may require you to show your passport, and you will need these documents to show proof of your identity as well as avail of healthcare coverage if you should fall ill or get into an accident. Your passport is especially important in establishments that accept credit cards. Just remember, however, to keep both documents securely attached to your person as you move around. Try to keep it in a small pouch or pocket separate from your valuables so you won't accidentally drop it as you rummage around your bag.

Oh, and one last tip: if ever you find yourself in a precarious situation, then remember to dial 112 to get assistance from the local fire, police and medical services. This is a useful thing to remember the moment you step out of Lanzarote airport. Transfers and tour services can be of some assistance, but it’s better to remember this small titbit if you ever find yourself facing trouble while on your own.
