What is a Safari Permit and How to Book?
Posted: Jun 05, 2020
There are more than fifty tiger reserves in India spread all over. The main attraction in these reserves is of course the tiger. These are conservation units and tourism is the main revenue generator although it is a secondary activity.
Nevertheless conservation initiatives need funds but tourism is conducted as a rule in twenty percent area of the core. For excursions the core is divided into zones and only one zone can be visited on an excursion. The rides are conducted on the morning time and the then post noon.
In common parley we can designate core as the critical tiger habitat which is the main breeding area of the predator along with many other creatures that dwell as cohabitants. There is a complex biology at play and in the ecosystem comprising of flora and fauna it is called the food chain. The outer area or the outer ring is called the buffer and it is a habitat meant for overflow of populations. But here human habitation is allowed along with agriculture and small businesses.
In the reserves safaris are organized in the core as well as in the buffer. But greater sway is held by the rides in the core...naturally. The core of the ecosystems comprises of the best habitats and large species of life forms. For excursion in the core a permit is required since the entry of jeeps is limited. The rides are conducted on open jeeps which have to be hired locally. The seating capacity is six people and their details have to be mentioned on the permit. A prescribed fee has to be paid for each safari.
This activity has to be done in advance before the permits are exhausted as there is a limit to entry in the core. At the portal you have to fill in details of all those who will be on the jeep along with the details of their passport or photo ID in case of people from India. The day and date is mentioned in the permit along with the zone preferred and allocated subject to availability. After all details have been filled in for date of availability you can make payments using credit or debit card or netbanking. Once you have successfully made payment the entry is secured and you can carry the print out of the permit to the reserve.
For each ride booking safari permit is done online at the State Website. For Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve it has to be done on MPOnline Portal which belongs to the State of Madhya Pradesh.
Once the entry is secured you can proceed to confirm hotel accommodation for your stay. You can access a list of hotels to choose the best in the reserve. After this you can make rest of the travel arrangements for touring India.
