At present, the world is struggling with the outbreak of the coronavirus. From economic crisis to daily increase in the death toll, the whole world is getting affected due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many sporting events like the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, IPL 2020, Wimbledon, and Premier League, and others have either been postponed or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Till now, five lakh people have been dead due to the deadly virus and almost, 10 million positive cases have been found across the globe. But the good news is that the sporting events will be taken place in the upcoming days after taking all the precautionary measures.

Although, the situation will get improved after some time but let's talk about the major changes in the sports industry after COVID-19.

  1. Change in rules & regulations: Many changes have already been imposed and special training has also provided to the sportsmen. In cricket, the usage of saliva on the ball has been banned, which is termed as the most impactful change in cricket history. Recently, 702 tests have been conducted on England's team players before their Test series against West Indies. As per the reports, a two-week practising schedule will be taken place for every team before any series. Once everything gets sorted out, we are going to witness some huge changes in all the sports.
  2. Fantasy sports platforms: In the past few months, the fantasy sports app industry has been impacted because of the postponement of sporting events. The platforms like Dream11, Real11, Fan fight and Hala play have tried to grab every opportunity by showing every live game on their platform. Once the sports resume completely, these platforms will try to make the best use of live sports like cricket, football, basketball and kabaddi. As international cricket is almost paused for the last few months, many domestic leagues were introduced to keep cricket live. Even the smallest leagues have been taken into consideration by the fantasy platforms, so they can generate their revenue and the users who are fond of playing fantasy cricket games can also utilize their potential.
  3. No spectators & empty stadiums: Even though many sporting events are soon be getting resumed, but the games will be played without any spectators on the stands. In short, no one will be present in the stadium for cheering their favourite team or players. It will be a huge change in the history of sports but while looking at the situation, it's the most important decision to be taken into consideration. No sport is complete without its spectators but during these tough times, the world has to re-shape their model.
  4. The introduction of E-sports by sports-media companies: In the absence of live sports, many sports-media companies have tried to engage their users with E-sports. We always say that necessity is the mother of invention and during these tough times, companies are experimenting with innovations and inventions.

Though the major changes have been implemented in many, but we're yet to witness the impact of these changes in the sports industry.
