This is your go-to quick guide if you're heading to New Jersey to check out the shore towns and the beaches. We’ve listed the top 3 here and why we've chosen them. For your convenience, we will list them in order of most recommended first just in case you only have a short time in the area.

Point Pleasant Beach

This is one of the most diverse shore towns in New Jersey for families wanting to take a day trip. There are things to do with the kids, as well as for mom and dad. It's also a very romantic town for couples.

The boardwalk is filled with fun little shops, pizzerias, ice cream stands, arcades, and bars. Kids will love Jenkinson's Aquarium and the Jenkinson’s Boardwalk which is filled with fun rides, games, and concession stand.

Attractions include Castaway Cove Adventure Golf which is a classic outdoor mini-golf play place. South Beach Arcade which has many fun indoor arcade games to play. But the star of the show here is the Jersey Shore Pirates excursion where the kids get to go out on a pirate boat.

Parents will love Martell's Tiki Bar, which is famous for its outdoor stage and bar. Other top attractions for parents include Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club, Algonquin Arts Theatre, Last Wave Brewing Company and The Ark Pub and Eatery.

Sports enthusiasts will enjoy this beach town as well because there are many fun activities including paddle surfing and parasailing.

There are more than a couple of really awesome party boats and charter boats available to go fishing.

Asbury Park

In its heyday, Asbury Park was one of the most famous shore towns in New Jersey. It went through a lull during the 80s and the 90s, but slowly but surely the town is been built back up.

This music town is still flourishing with some really cool little spots like the Saint, the Asbury lanes, the Langosta Lounge, and the world-famous Stone Pony.

This is a fun town for everybody of all cultures and ages. There is a lot of fun things to do for the LGBT community.

Some offbeat attractions include The Silver Ball Pinball Museum, Hot Sand glassblowing on the boardwalk and Paranormal Books and Curiosities.

For the foodies make sure you walk down Cookman Avenue and hit up the seafood spots.

Recommended dining includes Talula’s for pizza, Reyla for modernized Middle Eastern fair, MOGO Korean Fusion Tacos for, yes you guessed it some of the best tacos you will ever eat, and Barrio Costero for Mexican like you’ve never tasted.

There are a bunch of great bars in this town as well. The Asbury Festhalle& Biergarten is a two-story bar offering a great selection of beers and German food.

Seaside Heights

Some would argue that the shore town should not be in any kind of top 10 list but it is one of those things that you just have to see to believe. It is the quintessential old school heartbeat of all of the shore towns in the Garden State.

It is wonderfully antiquated and has a sense of timelessness like no other beach town in the world. Its seedy allure has resonated through time and continues to this day.

We will not give you too much specific information on this town because we want you to be surprised!

The boardwalk is full of dive bars and classic NJ style pizzerias with slices bigger than your head.

The Midway on the boardwalk has been selling addictive sausage and peppers and cheesesteaks for years.

Jump on all of the fun rides on the boardwalk including their newly built roller coaster. Then take the sky ride so you can see the entire town from above.

Then for your grand finale, make sure you walk underneath the boardwalk from one side to the other.
