Hindus in India have always been particular about their culture and tradition. For them, their religion and devout practices are of great significance. Devotees often get down for popular pilgrimages round the year in abundance. Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is the most preferred way-fare among Hindus as it is construed to be holding the highest religious value. Legends said that people, who will visit all four shrines of the abodes at least once in their life, will wash away their sins and attain salvation. The peace of mind and purification of the soul is the intent of the journey, which each Dham strives to deliver. Besides known for its deep spirituality, the tour is renowned for alluring beauty of green-lush valleys and the snow-covered Himalayan range. There’s a lot to visit on Char Dham Yatra tour from Mumbai but we are listing only the top five hamlets apart from the main shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath. Acknowledge them and enjoy the journey to the fullest.
Surya Kund
When ascending towards Yamunotri, every pilgrim looks excited to complete their pious wayfare by visiting Surya Kund near the main shrine of Goddess Yamuna. Surya or Sun is the father of Yamuna; thus, people also pay homage to the God at this Kund. This hot water spring has 88-degree temperature and holds mystical medicinal properties. By dipping their legs in the hot water of the spring, devotees get relief after a hectic traveling and cure for the skin as well as joint problems.
Harsil
Another must-visit gem of the Himalayas is Harsil, which dwells near the Gangotri temple. It only requires a 25-minute trek to reach the hill station of Harsil on the banks of the Bhagirathi river. The green landscape blankets the entire valley as if to warm it up and keep the cold breeze emitted by the snow-clad peaks in the backdrop. When the main shrine is closed during the off-season, the idol of the Goddess Ganga is placed here.
Jalmagna Shivling
Everyone knows about the heavy freefall of Ganga on earth and how Lord Shiva controlled its wrath. As per Hindu mythology, Jalmagna Shivling is the place where the Lord held the river in his matted locks to prevent further destruction. Intriguingly, the Shivling remains half-submerged in the water during summers when the sea level rises.
Gandhi Sarovar
Named after Mahatma Gandhi because his ashes were immersed here, Gandhi Sarovar is only 4km away from the main shrine of Kedarnath. Perched at an altitude of 3,900m above sea level, this small lake contains crystal clear water. It takes a long yet comfortable trek through grassy fields and enchantress waterfalls to reach Chorabari Tal (Original Name). Lord Shiva is believed to have imparted Yoga lessons to Saptarishis at the shore of this Sarovar.
Bheem Pul
While proceeding towards Badrinath on Char Dham Yatra from Mumbai, pilgrims also come across an ancient bridge, named, Bheem Pul. Named after one of Pandava brothers, this bridge is built over the Saraswati river in Mana village by Bheem for his loving wife. This Pul is an unusual place to visit on this pilgrimage to complete a mythological experience.About the Author
