weekend away

Who deserves a weekend away? I am sure you do! Going away for a relaxing weekend is a great way to recharge and rejuvenate especially if you have been suffering from stress. Even though it is just a weekend, there is a lot to plan. Where to go, where to stay and what to do about your furry friends. It is a question many people have. Should I take my pet with me or look for a pet sitter in Brisbane? As much fun as it might be to have them with you. There are many benefits of keeping your pet at home when you go away for the weekend.

They are in familiar surroundings

The simplest of the reasons. Taking a pet away to somewhere they haven’t been can be daunting for them. They need to get use to the new space, the new smells and what they can and cant do. By leaving them at home, they are safe and comfortable. They know their own home and can be secure in it.

They limit your options

Another reason to leave your pet at home is because they can restrict what you do. Hotels and motels normally do not allow pets. This goes for many Air BnBs as well. If you leave them at home you can have your choice of accommodation. You can also do many more activities without them. As much as we love them, they can get in the way of different things we want to do.

Saves a crazy car trip

Some pets simply HATE the car. If you are road tripping somewhere for the weekend, it can be a very long drive with a pet. A trip that may only be an hour or two can turn into a lot more with stops to settle your pet, toilet breaks and food breaks. It is also not very fair on them to be locked up in a car for hours on end. If you are flying somewhere for the weekend, it can get very costly to transport a pet as well.

You all deserve a break

Believe it or not, our furry friends can get a bit fed up with us at times as well. Why not have a weekend away so that everyone can have a bit of ‘me’ time. A weekend where you are not worrying about your pet and making sure you are spending enough time with them, will help you to recharge. A weekend away from you for them can have the same effect.

The love

And most importantly, when you walk back through the front door after being away for the weekend, the love that you will be shown will be amazing. They will be so happy to see you and provide you with lots of slippery kisses.

Don’t feel bad about leaving your pet for the weekend. Every one deserves a break and you should be able to do so without worry. Enlist a friend or family member to help with feeding your pet. Or look into a small local business who can provide dog walking and feeding services for you.

Go on, book a weekend away and enjoy yourself.
