The internet is a tool that is used by most of the people. From a child to an aged one every age of people can use this. For example: a child can use it to play video games or an aged one can use it to send and receive mails. It is the most powerful tool which is used in almost all the fields as none of the businesses can survive without the aid of this tool.

With the aid of the internet, we can now search any kind of information based on any topic as it is collection of multiple websites known as "web". As a result, the concept of the internet is very broad. Now, the question arises how does an internet works? Does it work by itself? It is very clear that we need a strong tool in order to manage the internet as the internet itself is a powerful and massive tool. Hence, we use DNS. The three letters may seem to be very small but, it does tremendous and amazing work.

The DNS is an abbreviated form of the "Domain Name System". It also refers as the "Domain Name Service" and "Domain Name Server" sometimes.

The main objective of the Dns is very simple i.e. it converts the domain names entered by us into the system’s understand form i.e. into the IP addresses. However, this simple looking work contains many complicated and hectic steps.

A system does not understand any other language except the binary language and hence, it is important to convert the domain names into the IP addresses.

The working of the DNS is similar to a telephone diary that may contain many pages. For example: if anyone asks you to dial a number then you can simply use that telephone diary in order to get the required contact number. That means there is no need to remember that number as we can take help from the telephone diary. In the similar way, we do not need to remember the IP addresses as the DNS does that part for us.

There can be an N number of websites in the Internet that means each website is having its unique IP address that makes the work of the DNS more complicated. As a result, the DNS need some other resources to do its function effectively and efficiently. In actual, the DNS works in a network. This network may have multiple servers and these servers are responsible to find the exact IP address. If one server is unable to find out the correct IP address then, it passes the query to the other server and so on that that creates a networks.

The DNS has a significant role no doubt and hence, we require it. There are many companies and agencies which are providing various kinds of DNS services. One can also search them online as multiple websites are there over the internet.

The DNS network can be reliable, scalable and prompt as it takes few milliseconds only to convert any domain name into IP address.
