From calling, playing, internet surfing to working on projects, tablets offer a variety of facilities. But they still aren’t an alternative for laptops. This article summarizes reasons why laptops fare better.

Since they were first formally marketed in 2010, Tablets have become a part and parcel of our life. Some even claim that they have rendered laptops useless. We check the five reasons behind why laptops are better than tablets -

Tablets don’t have physical keyboard

Seriously! If you don’t have thinner fingertips, touch typing can be a nightmare for you. Imagine pressing ‘A’ and getting an ‘S’ typed! Yeah, you can type out long messages and Facebook Chats or Twitter tweets, but try typing a long document and you will either end up throwing your tablet or soothing your sore fingers. Ultimately, nothing can really replace a physical keyboard, especially when you have to work on presentations, assignments and projects. And yes, a number of tablets have their keyboard accessories available in the market, but they don’t usually provide you the same comfort.

Storage Capacity

16, 32 or 64 GB of a tablet’s storage capacity cannot surpass your laptop’s minimum of 250 GB capacity. And we are just comparing laptops and tablets from Apple. Most laptops these days have a minimum capacity of 300GB. And if you think that 300 GB isn’t enough, you can always perk it up with an extra in-built hard disk or a connectable hard disk.

Processing Speed

Have a Tablet? Open a few apps in it and let them run in the background. After a few apps, your tablet would become slow and you would experience difficulties such as hung screen. Even though, laptops can have difficulties in running, you really have to push them over the edge for the same. Best laptops in India, including Dell Alienware, Razer Blade and Lenovo IdeaPad are designed for hardcore gamers, something which a tablet cannot offer. In fact, when compared, basic, regular functioning laptops from Dell, Apple (Mac), Lenovo, Asus and HP functioned better than tablets for a variety of activities, including gaming, building presentations, completing assignments, using different software and developing technologies.

Smaller Screen, Seriously?

Tablets are awesome! They are compact, lightweight, and extremely easy to use and carry. But if they are so cool, why don’t you use it regularly for watching movies and shows instead of switching on your flat screen television? Well, tablets are great, but when it comes to enjoying a movie, playing a video or watching a show, a large screen is better. While tablets can’t be an alternative for a television, laptops can be an effective alternative for watching shows, listening to awesome music and video chatting. When we compared laptop usage from different users, we noticed that most of them use a laptop for more varied functions than a tablet. Small screen, even if it is a whooping 10 inches for a mobile, is boring!

Software and Compatibility

You can use Adobe Reader on your tablet, but can you use Adobe Photoshop on it too? Software is one of the main factors that make best laptops in India score miles better than a tablet. They are more compatible for a variety of other things and have USB ports, HDMI, SD memory Card slots and Ethernet connectivity as well. Even repairing cost of laptops are better than tablets, see here for more details.

So, do you still think that a tablet fares better than a laptop? Think again!
