This is going to be the third and last part of the recommended battery series for FrSky X9D Plus SE 2019 Transmitter. I know we have dragged it too much. So I want to end this series and come up with some Modifications or DIY for your favorite FrSky transmitter soon. However, don’t get confused with the last article where we already discussed some recommended batteries for X9d Plus SE. So why this article is here if we have already covered it?

Well, before thinking it over, I just wanted to clear the confusion between FrSky X9D Plus SE 2019 and Frsky X9D Plus SE. Actually, is there any difference? Yes, there is! First of all, FrSky X9D Plus SE is discontinued, which means there will be no support for that radio from FrSky. Apart from physical appearance, the FrSky Transmitter X9d Plus SE 2019 is different from the Normal one in terms of the electronics as well.

The important aspect we need to consider for this article is nothing but the charging circuit of both the transmitters. This is very important information that can save you from regretting one day. The Normal X9D Plus SE has a Ni-Mh battery charging circuit in it while the latest FrSky X9D Plus SE 2019 has a Li-Ion battery charging circuit specifically designed in it for charging 2S Li-ion or Li-po battery.

So under no circumstances, do not charge any other type of battery other than Li-Ion and Li-Po using the USB charging of FrSky Transmitter X9D Plus SE 2019. If you try to charge some other battery, especially the Ni-Mh that comes with the older X9D Plus, it can lead to fire since the charging circuit does not support the charging of Ni-MH batteries.

Moreover, the Li-ion charging circuit is designed in a way that the battery can be charged using the mini USB port on the Radio. How cool is that right? You don’t need to carry an extra charger with you all the time to charge the transmitter. However, it doesn’t mean that you can’t use a Ni-Mh battery for this transmitter.

You can use whatever battery has an output voltage of 6.5v to 8.4v with the FrSky X9d Plus SE 2019. Let it be a LiFePO4 or Li-Po or a Ni-CD battery, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is you can only charge the 2S Li-ion or Li-po battery with it. That’s it. So let’s get started finally!

RDQ Series 7.4V 2S 2500mAh LiPo Battery for Taranis X9D 2019 - XT60 & JST-XH

The battery we have taken into consideration is the Raceday Quads 2500Mah 2S Li-Po battery specifically designed for Taranis X9D Plus SE. First of all, RDQ is very famous for its batteries and they have marked their reputation on the same in the FPV industry long ago.

They have a similar 2500Mah 3S battery for X9d Plus. But we cannot use it for the latest X9D Plus 2019 as it only supports 8.4V Input. However, it is always better to use a 3S battery over a 2S battery whenever applicable because the backup time or a running time with a 3S battery will be much more than a 2S battery of the same capacity. We have already discussed it over two articles on our battery series.

This battery is recommended by many pilots and tested by many professional pilots. I have tested its current capacity and the result was promising. The battery is around 2600Mah after testing the capacity by charging and discharging. You will get around up to 20 hours of backup time with this battery for your radi

This article was not supposed to be a simple Battery recommendation for FrSky Transmitter FrSky X9D Plus SE 2019 but to mention the difference between the Normal or discontinued X9D Plus SE as well. The important thing to keep in mind is not to charge batteries other than 2S Li-ion or Li-po using the internal charging circuit of this transmitter.

I hope this article has helped someone to choose a better and long-lasting battery for your FrSky X9D Plus SE 2019. We will be back with another informative article soon. Stay Tuned!
