Are you thinking to apply for a Passport? Then here is the list of documents required

We always advise our clients to form a checklist of all the mandatory documents required before applying for New Passport Application, booking appointment at the passport office as well as for renewal of Passport. It is very important to collect all the documents required for the passport application before because if the documents are not ready, the application process will take a lot of time.

If you are thinking to move abroad, a passport is that one document which is mandatory to carry while traveling out of India. Any citizen living in India can get a passport made at any time with needed details and documents. In India, a passport is valid up to 10 years, after this period passport needs to be renewed.

Few years ago, to get an Indian passport was considered as a tough task but with the help of the government this task has become a little easier for the Indian citizens. Now-a-days you can just simply apply through online website, book appointment according to your convenience and carry all the important documents to the nearest passport office for verification. If this is not followed passport application may take a very long time to process or sometimes if gets cancelled due to incomplete documents submission

To simplify your work and save your time, Team TGH has formed a checklist, if you are thinking to apply for a fresh passport. Documents mentioned below are for the candidates who are applying for a fresh passport under the normal process

Here are all the documents required for a new passport application:

To show Address Proof: You can any of these documents – Aadhaar Card, Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Telephone (Postpaid/Landline Bill), Gas connection, Rent Agreement or

Spouse’s passport photocopy – Under this the applicant needs to attach the first and last page of the passport which should include all the family details consisting the applicant’s name as the spouse of the passport holder. The photocopy should also have the address which should be similar to the address shown by the passport applicant in the passport office.

The new passport applicant can also show the copy of the Passbook of present Bank Account. As per the norms, applicants will be found valid, if the documents are of Public Sector Banks, Regional Rural Banks, or Private Sector Indian Banks.

It is important to note that new passport applicant should submit the address proof of his/her current address.

To show Date Proof: You can use any of these documents as a proof of Date of Birth while applying for a new passport application

a. Birth Certificate – which is generated by the Registrar of Births and Deaths all over India or it can also be issued by the Municipal Corporation of India

b. PAN Card generated by the IT Department

c. Aadhaar Card or E-Aadhaar

d. Driving License which is been issued by the state government’s Transport Department

e. Life insurance policy papers in the candidate’s name

f. Voter ID Card or the Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) can be used as date of birth proof which is been issued by the Election Commission of India

g. School Leaving/Matriculation/ Transfer Certificate generated by the concerned school authority last attended and is known by the educational board system of India

All the documents which are submitted by the new passport applicant in the passport office should have the applicant’s name with his/her date of birth mentioned. In some cases some identity proofs such as Aadhaar Card, Voted ID Card, PAN Card etc do not list Date of Birth clearly in the form, so it is important to attach those documents which are clear in their statement to avoid any confusion.
