3. Jewish Museum

The Jewish Museum consists of six monuments all grouped together in Josefov: the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Pinkas Synagogue, the Maisel Synagogue, the Ceremonial Hall, the Spanish Synagogue and the Klaus Synagogue.

The museum dates back to 1906 when it was formed to preserve the synagogues from being demolished during the clearances of the slums. Objects and artifacts were brought in from all over the area, and it has now amassed an impressive collection.You can buy one ticket to see all the monuments, and you can pay extra if you want to see the Old-New Synagogue. (This is the oldest synagogue in Europe, being built in 1270.) The Old Jewish Cemetery is the highlight for many people. This is the oldest Jewish graveyard in Europe - built in the 15th century - but it has not been used for two centuries. It contains as many as 100,000 graves.
