Tuscan villas are the best accommodation visitors can choose during a holiday to Italy. The blend of privacy, luxury and history all come together to make a holiday so much more memorable. There are, however, quite a few places in the popular region that are particularly attractive choices to rent a villa. Here are three of the most recommended ones, each offering a unique experience.

Greve in Chianti

Greve in Chianti is the principal town in the Chianti district, with many Tuscan villas dotted around the countryside. The landscape and mood around Greve in Chianti epitomizes the idyllic pace of rural living – one that stands as a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life.

Many Tuscan villas in this region take full advantage of the idyllic farmland atmosphere. They offer refuge to the weary soul with shaded gardens and hosts that extend their warm, affectionate hospitality to all those who visit. The panoramic views of the countryside also help when it comes to truly relaxing.

Greve in Chianti also has a long-held love affair with wine. Whether you possess a cursory knowledge of wine or are a true gourmand with a well-defined taste for the best Chiantis, the many tours and festivals dedicated to the local wine are definitely a major attraction of staying in this lovely area.

Radda in Chianti

This is a town located in the Province of Siena, between the Pesa and Arbia valleys. The region affords spectacular views of the surrounding hills, but it is the medieval history of the area that makes it truly stand out.

Radda in Chianti is surrounded by ancient walls, which now serve as silent witnesses to the martial history of the town. The village of Volpaia is located nearby, and is home to the eponymous clockworkers and instrument crafters that lent their names to this village. San Gimignano is also close, and its formidable towers and fortifications lend an air of stoic resistance dating back to the 10th century. It is also located conveniently close to Greve in Chianti. Many Tuscan villas are located in between these two towns, making it easy to explore old fortresses one day and then go wine tasting the next.

Reggello

Reggello is a municipality located in the province of Florence, half an hour’s drive from the city of Florence itself. The area offers inspiring views of the majestic Apennine Mountains, as well as the various vineyards and olive plantations. What makes Reggello truly stand out, however, is its proximity to many sites steeped in art, culture, history and natural beauty. The Abbey of Vallombrosa is one such example – blending together the solemnity of monastic life and the natural tranquillity of the nearby forest. The Balze is also located in Reggello, with its rocky spires inspiring Leonardo da Vinci to include it in the background of the Mona Lisa.

Reggello’s proximity to the cultural centre of Florence makes it an attractive location to make a base. The many museums, galleries, basilicas, shops and restaurants of the city can be accessed within an hour’s drive from Reggello, and the town is just a few kilometers away from one of Italy's biggest fashion outlets 'The Mall'. And what better way is there to end a busy day in Florence or shopping than to recline in the privacy and tranquillity of your own Tuscan villas?
