Human life cannot operate without energy. In our day to day life every activity of ours is extensively dependent on energy. The source from which we obtain this energy is quite vast. Some of them are namely solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, energy obtained from fossil fuels etc. All these energy sources are divided into two broad categories: Renewable source of energy and Non-renewable source of energy.

Renewable source of energy refers to any energy that is restored back by nature quickly and is available in abundance. For example solar energy obtained from sun, ocean energy obtained from tides and waves, etc. Non-renewable energy on the other hand does not restore back quickly, instead takes millions of years to form again. For example Coal, Petroleum, natural gas and etc.

Petroleum is a nonrenewable source of energy. Formed by the dead remains of marine life, it takes millions of years, high pressure and high temperature to form. Today petrol is a common household name around the globe. It is extensively used not only in vehicles but for several other purposes. Using petroleum for vehicles come with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

The advantages are:

Ease of extraction: with vast technological and infrastructural developments, extraction of petroleum is easy these days.High-density fuel: due to its high density, even a small amount is capable of generating a significant amount of energy.Easily available; petrol is easily available around the globe. Petrol dispensing stations can be found everywhere.

The disadvantages are:

A fossil fuel: a nonrenewable source of energy, petroleum is not unlimited in quantity. It would take thousands of years to restore back.Major cause of air pollution: when combusted it tends to release poisonous gases which is harmful for both nature and living beingsSignificant role in Acid rain: the harmful gases when released in air falls back in the form of acid along with rainwater harming the crops and livelihoods.Risks of spill: there is a constant risk of oil spills in the ocean which can be fatal for the marine lives extensively.

Made with Propane, Butane and natural gas, LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) is a mixture highly flammable in nature. This mixture of hydrocarbon gases is widely used in our daily lives right from heating, cooking and also in vehicles.

LPG comes with a set of advantages that makes it one of the most preferred sources of energy. It is one most eco-friendly source of energy due minimum emission of greenhouse gases. It is considered to be one of the cleanest fuels for vehicles due to the absence of Sulphur. It is cost effective and easily available. Moreover it is known to improve the engine life in contrast to other sources of energy available such as petroleum. It has few limitations as well:Availability is an issue: LPG for vehicles has still not gained the popularity it deserves resulting in its availability.Expensive: vehicles that run on LPG tend to be a bit more expensive than vehicles that run on petrol and diesel.

Today, the world is struggling with the effects of climate change. Combustion of fossil fuels being one of the major causes of climate change and air pollution. We need to come out of our comfort zones and start looking around for options that are sustainable and would allow future generations to survive in a better world, LPG might not be the most ideal alternative to petrol but definitely is the better alternative if we wish to save our planet. It is not hard to find LPG gas suppliers around us, all we need to do is to look up for the change.
