What with the buzz around the pandemic & the need for social distancing, we seem to have lost the sheen around the weekend vibes we got while the week ended. It seems now like a distant memory where we met up with our friends, in our favorite bar to laugh off our week’s (painful ;) events holding our favorite drink between our fingers. But hey folks, the love for our cocktails need not be kept away even when at home, for it serves as a weekend therapy for some of us. (LOL)

For me, the scene of a bartender mixing a cocktail is a sight to behold. It’s almost like a poet penning down his most exotic poetry on a paper (well, a glass here).

The need to ‘stay home’ (& stay safe), cannot let us drown the sheer love for our best-loved drink. So here we are with some easy-to-make cocktail recipes to pump up your dull home-stay weekends into a fun-filled rendezvous:

#CLASSIC MARTINI

007’s preferred drink is been around for quite a while now. Even the modern mixologists would admit to

its never-out-of-fashion & never-gone-wrong attributes.

Ingredients: Gin or vodka, dry vermouth.

Starter recipe:

2 oz gin

1 oz dry vermouth

The first and the most simple step you should take is order alcohol online, get it delivered to your place. Mix the contents in an ice-filled mixing glass or a metal shaker. Strain into a coupe or cocktail glass & garnish with a lemon peel & olive.

#MANHATTAN

First poured in Manhattan (apparently), the drink derives its name from the ‘city of gatherings’. It has come to evolve with more than a decade old history, while some ingredients replaced with the other. Ingredients: Bourbon or rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, bitters (of choice & taste).

Starter recipe:

2 oz rye whiskey

1 oz sweet vermouth

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Try googling "liquor store delivery" and buy your choice of whiskey with just a few clicks. Your Manhatten ingredients will be delivered to you within minutes. Stir the ingredients with cracked ice & then strain into a chilled coup. Garnish with an orange or brandied cherry.

#NEGRONI

The fictitious yet legendary story of Count Camillo Negroni asking the bartender to use gin instead of club soda played a role in the nomenclature of this cocktail. A balanced palate of sweet, bitter & strong boozy flavor makes it a classic favorite.

Ingredients: Campari, sweet vermouth, gin.

Starter recipe:

1 oz London dry gin

1 oz sweet vermouth

1 oz Campari

Stir it all with lots of ice for 20-30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with orange peel.

#DAIQUIRI

Unlike its rep as a ‘girly drink’, a classic daiquiri is anything but that. It was first introduced by an American mining engineer in Cuba. This rum-based drink falls into another easy-to-make & easy-to-love category of cocktails. Check out the exquisite range of rum available at Drinkerrs and get it delivered to you through their highly affordable and reliable alcohol delivery option.

Ingredients: White rum, freshly squeezed lime juice, sugar.

Starter recipe:

2 oz white rum

1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice

  • oz sugar (crystal or syrup)

Strain into a chilled coup after mixing them all in a shaker. Make sure the sugar is dissolved neatly if you are using it in crystal form.

#DARK ‘N’ STORMY

Trademarked under Gosling’s rum from Bermuda since 1991, this one is a classic cocktail again. A mix of Gosling’s rum with ginger beer serves the purpose of making an easy recipe with an ecstatic taste.

Ingredients: Dark rum(preferably Gosling’s dark seal), ginger beer, lime.

Starter recipe:

  1. part Gosling’s dark seal rum
  2. parts ginger beer

Fill a cocktail glass with ice, add, rum, & top it up with ginger beer. Squeeze in the limen garnish with a lime wedge.

#GIMLET

One more drink of medical accident, this was invented by Sir Thomas Gimelette, who added lime juice with gin to combat scurvy (not so attractive for an intro). Thus, the name, gimlet.

Ingredients: Gin or vodka, Rose’s lime juice.

Starter recipe:

2 oz gin (or vodka)

2/3 oz Rose’s lime juice

Visit your nearest liquor store or Order vodka online, mix both the ingredients well with ice to being strained into a chilled cocktail glass.

#CLASSIC MARGARITA

A Mexican drink, & my personal favorite, this one is traditionally served in a step-up salt-rimmed cocktail glass. The Marg, which often seems like blue glass booze, though when made simply at home is an elegant drink just like the Daiquiri. Served with ice or straight up, both the versions work their best.

Ingredients: Blanco tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur.

Starter recipe:

2 oz silver tequila

1 oz orange liqueur

1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice

All you need to do is purchase your favorite Tequila through liquor store delivery at the best price. Answer your door, your delivery will be there on time. Rub a lime wedge to the rim of the glass (classically a margarita glass) & twist it over coarse salt so it attaches. Shake the ingredients with crushed ice & pour over (more) ice in the salt-embellished glass.

#CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL

One of the International Bartender’s Association’s official cocktails, this one serves as a go-to cocktail at any dinner party to date. Even though easy to make, it’s one of the best examples of sophisticated champagne cocktails of all times. You can choose from trending champagne styles, order liquor online & you are all set to prepare a magical cocktail for your party.

Ingredients: Champagne or sparkling wine, sugar cubes (diet-conscious sugar-free version will do too), bitters.

Starter recipe:

3 oz Champagne

1/3 oz Cognac

2 dashes Angostura bitters

1 sugar cube

Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitter & sugar cube into a Champagne flute (classic). Add cognac & gently pour chilled champagne over it. Express a lemon twist over the top.
