If you connect an SD card on your Windows 10 computer, but it doesn’t appear, then you should immediately follow the steps in this article to fix the problem. An SD card is a tiny data storage device that works with most digital devices. Most phones have an SD card slot to allow users to add more storage space to their devices.

Sometimes you may want to connect it to your computer to manage or transfer files. Most laptops and desktops don’t provide a dedicated SD card slot. So users often purchase SD card USB adaptors or SD card readers.

Why Your Micro SD Card is not showing on a PC?

When your memory card does not appear on pc, it could happen due to a faulty SD card reader or memory card slot. There could also be some technical issues with your SD card itself. However, the most common causes of ‘can’t read SD card on PC’ are missing storage device drivers and memory card data correction.

  3. You will see an option saying ‘troubleshoot’ on the left side navigation bar.
  4. Please select that option and then look at the right side window.
  5. Click on ‘hardware and devices.’
  6. Navigate to ‘run the troubleshooter.’

Now the hardware and connected devices troubleshooter will initiate scanning your computer. It will check your devices thoroughly for any hardware-related glitch. If it finds anything, you will see suggestions or warning messages on your screen. It may also automatically fix the problem that was preventing your PC from reading your memory card.

  • Update Storage and USB Drivers

  2. In the start menu, please type ‘device manager.’
  3. As the device manager application appears in the result, perform a right-click on it.
  4. Continue with the run as administrator option.
  5. Carefully find and expand the USB drivers section.

  8. Do the same with all USB drivers on your computer.
  9. Now expand the storage device and also update all its drivers.
  10. Once you have completed, please reboot your computer.
  11. Reconnect the SD card and check if it works. If your computer is still not reading the SD card, make sure to check the following method.

There could be some connectivity problem with your SD card. First of all, try to connect the same SD card to a different USB port. If that doesn’t work, try using a different SD card or SD card reader. Sometimes there could be a technical problem with the SD card or micro SD card reader.
