We all know LPG as Liquefied petroleum gas and it is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases such as propane and butane. LPG is derived by refining petroleum or natural gas, hence it is almost obtained from fossil fuel sources that are being manufactured during the refining of petroleum (crude oil) or can also be extracted from petroleum or the natural gas streams which emerge directly from the ground.

It is a much cleaner fuel than petrol as it produces 15% fewer carbon footprints than petrol but still, the usage of LPG is very low compared to the true potential it possesses. The perception of LPG is the biggest obstacle for LPG to reach its true potential. Where LPG should be seen as clean, safe, and reliable, it is commonly misinterpreted as old-fashioned, dangerous, and inefficient. It is often linked to natural gas and considered a niche product however, on the contrary, it is a truly versatile product with many innovative and multi-uses. The perception of LPG and natural gas being the same is hurting LPG the most as the customers and the product placement is similar and thus LPG market gets invariably scavenged by the other. The World LPG Association is trying its best to educate the industry about the opportunities and strengths of LPG as it has been studied that poor perception and awareness is one of the root causes of LPG achievement. The opportunities for the LPG in the coming decade vary from autogas, power generation, fuel switching, marine, domestic and developing markets, agriculture, small-medium-heavy duty engines, and many more untapped possibilities that can boost the LPG market.

One of the most common relations to LPG is domestic use, as majorly every household an LPG cylinder is a common view. And with the advent of digitalization, booking and refilling LPG cylinders has become very easy. This has boosted the LPG domestic market to a great extent, even the LPG distributor Muscat, Mumbai, or Melbourne. The potential of LPG is still bound to be seen and if the plans work out the market of LPG will boom in the near future.
