Panna a well-known place in all over the world for its Diamond. Since 1981 this place started being knowing from different prospective, Wild Life, Panna National Park came into the existence. Panna National Park is situated in the Vindhya Hill range and spreads over the Panna and Chhatarpur districts in the northern part of Madhya Pradesh. Panna National Park is the most important protected area in the north-central highlands of India, it is located along the banks of the Ken River. The Park, with its deep ravines, cascading waterfalls and thick teak forests, is predominantly a plateau, with sprawling flatlands punctuated by hills, deep valleys and gorges. The terrain is largely rocky and uneven.

In 1994 it is declared as one of the Tiger Reserve in India under the protection of project Tiger.

The Ken river, which flows through the Reserve from south to north, is home for Gharial and Mugger, and other aquatic fauna and is one of the least polluted rivers and a tributary of Yamuna. It is one of the sixteen perennial rivers of Madhya Pradesh and is truly the life line of the Reserve. Ken offers some of the most spectacular scenery to the visitor while it meanders for some 55 km through the reserve.

The Rocky and undulating habitat of this plateau region have become the home for many animals. The flat lands on the top of the plateau was the hunting ground for the Cheetas a century back, though we lost Cheetah from our land but it’s one of the most favorable prey have still survived in this park which is Chinkara. The smallest antelope species in India.

Apart from Chinkara Panna National Park is blessed with the diversity of herbivore, like Blue Bull, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Barking Deer and Wild boar all are in plenty. The good number of prey has given the result of having good number of predator. Tigers and Leopards are the main.

The rich variety of avifauna found in this park makes it one of the best bird watching destinations in India. In the morning stillness with its perfect silence, you hear the whistle of a bird, and that sounds like the best song you’ve ever heard! In another second, you spot an Asian Paradise flycatcher perched on a tree, with its characteristic long steamer tail. There are more than 200 species of birds you can find in this Park.

One of the main attraction is the Vultures. The beautiful gorges of Reserve have made the best nesting and roosting area for this vulture. In some places there are hundreds of individuals roosting in one cliff. Seeing Vultures on the eye level from the cliff is a kind of experience I am sure no-one would want to miss it. Painted Sangrouse, Great Thicknee, Bar-Headed Goose, Honey Buzzard, King Vulture, Blossom-Headed Parakeet, Changeable Hawk-Eagle Indian Vulture and many more birds can be found in this place.

Ken River attracts lots of water birds throughout the year, during the winter the migratory birds make this place the paradise for birdwatching. Ones the summer hits, the huge flock of Cormorants forms like an Island moving around the river.
