What is injection moulding? Injection Moulding is a method to manufacture different products using a force to pour the material into the mould. Various materials are used to prepare different products. Usually, glass, plastic and metal are used in the manufacturing of injection mould products. Here, in this article, I am going to explain the method of injection moulding with respect to rubber. Rubber is a such a versatile product, now many industries require quality rubber products. Most of the rubber products are being used in the automobile industries produced by this particular method. It is a job of a designer, and mould maker. Due to its high resistance to heat and thermal properties, rubber products are widely used in all those industries where the thermal properties of rubber are very important.

Apart from its resistance to heat, it is a non conductor of electricity. Therefore, this property is also utilized in most of the electrical spare parts where no conducting materials play a prominent role. This particular method is used in the manufacture of the products used in the production of energy such as solar panel components, Bellows, silicone insulators, EPDM insulation boots, connectors weather seals, terminal covers and so on. In the mining field rubber products such as full face masks, vibrating springs, screening media, conveyer end caps, are used. In oil and gas production units different types of rubber products such as Diaphragms, dust sensors, Piston sets, valves, LPG conversion components, gas meter plugs, injector seals, and bellow collectors.

There are many rubber products used in various industries other than mentioned above. Out of these products, gaskets are one of the most important ones used in commercial and domestic fields extensively. Injection moulding is the modern method used in recent decades due to its many good properties which were not found in the traditional methods of mouldings.

While all the above mentioned products belong to industries related to the electrical field and automobiles, the other major use is found in the health domain. Silicone rubber moulds produced by the Injection Moulding method is used extensively in hospitals for various purposes such as orthodontics face masks, baby pacifiers medical probes and so on.

The need and demand to incorporate new technology in the production of rubber products to improvise the quality is very essential in the health product domain. New technologies are required to produce high quality rubber products. Most of the manufacturing companies look out for better technologies and better manufacturing techniques where they can increase efficiency and decrease production waste. Manufacturing rubber products is a close nit work for engineers, mould designers, laymen, production managers, line controllers, and quality team in the various production stages.

Since it is one of the fields where quality plays a fundamental role in many concerned fields, constant research and development is necessary to develop new products and new techniques in the anufacturing field. Even though, injection moulding is one of the best methods adopted by the rubber manufacturers, still traditional methods are used in the production of many rubber products. Maximum working efficiency is today’s mantra in the manufacturing field.
