Mazda records best July sales numbers in 21 Years

Mazda North American operations, headquartered in Irvine, California recently announced record sales in July, topping its North American sales for last 21 years. Its sales include more than 700 dealers throughout the United States and Mexico. Mazda announced it sold 29,238 vehicles in July, an increase of 9.3 percent from last year.

Its Skyactiv Technology may play a role in high number of Mazda sales, with more than 80 percent of its vehicles in July equipped with the technology. Skyactiv Technology is a high performance, fuel efficient technology that allows consumers a high performance vehicle that provides fuel efficiency, while compromising nothing on performance and style. Emission fuel levels are reduced, while engine performance is increased. Some believe the technology has helped to ensure a consumer base that not only identify with the Mazda brand, but the Mazda experience.

"Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 continue to show strong gains month after month as more and more customers realize the benefits of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY," said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, MNAO in Mazda's press release. "Mazda hasn't sold this many vehicles in the month of July since 1993. A big part of that success is building the brand and showing customers that buying a Mazda isn't buying an economy car on discount, it is buying a near-premium experience for a great value."

Mazda Sales in Mexico operations had similar results. They reported an increase of 26 percent when compared to last year, and sales that have steadily increased over the last 18 months. July was also a record breaking month for Mexican sales. They toppled 200,000 vehicle sales, the most in their history.

Best sellers for July were the Mazda3, responsible for 9,381 vehicles sold, and the best sales for the vehicle since 2010. The Mazda CX-5 was next in line, with 9,109 vehicles sold, making this July its best ever. The Mazda 6 also broke a record, with 5,049 vehicles sold, and its best July since 2006.

Also responsible for the high Mazda sales is the popularity of the zoom-zoom campaign that Mazda launched in 2000, and upgraded in 2010 to include the slogan "Zoom zoom, today, tomorrow and forever." In 2011 Mazda also included the tag line, "What do you drive?" The zoom-zoom campaign has been accompanied by songs, as well as television and radio advertisements.

Mazda is known for its high performance vehicles, and currently sponsors vehicles and engines in a variety of motorsports. The sport of racing enjoys more Mazda race cars than any other vehicle in racing.
