Picking your wedding venue is the defining decision in planning your wedding. Once you know where you're getting married, everything else falls into place. It’s so exciting once you’ve made that decision, but I’ve written this post to make sure that you haven’t forgotten any details in planning your big day.

While you'll definitely have covered all the big details with your planner or venue directly, there are a few smaller details that it's easy to overlook.

So, here are 2 things you might have forgetten to ask…

2 Things You’ve Forgotten To Ask Your Wedding Venue
  1. IS WEDDING CONFETTI ALLOWED?

When you picture a traditional wedding, you think about a country church, with a bride and groom emerging into a flurry of confetti from the happy guests.

But, actually, traditional wedding confetti is often no longer used at wedding ceremonies for a number of reasons, including ecological concerns (traditional confetti isn’t biodegradable) and mess (it leaves something of a trail of devastation to be cleaned up).

For that reason, not every wedding venue will allow your guests to throw confetti on your big day. But, fear not if you have your heart set on a fun exit, there are tons of great alternatives for wedding confetti that your venue is sure to allow!

  1. IS THERE GUEST PARKING?

This one depends on what kind of venue you’ve chosen and if your ceremony and reception are in the same location, but thinking ahead about where your guests can park will be hugely appreciated by your guests.

  • Is parking freely available? If not, provide your guests with options for where they can park as close to the venue as possible.

  • Is there a charge for parking? Let guests know if they need to have loose change with them.

  • Is your venue in the middle of nowhere? If so, your guests may be looking for taxis so it’s worth looking into block booking taxis for your guests.

You can add information about parking to the information cards you include with your wedding invitations, or on your wedding website.

There you have it - the 2 simple, but important questions that you may have forgotten to ask your wedding venue! With just a little preparation you can ensure that there are no nasty surprises for you, or your guests, on your big day!
