Self-awareness is a powerful predictor of life success, perhaps because a self-aware person recognizes whether an opportunity is a good fit for them and how to make a good enterprise successful.

However, keep in mind that doing an honest, nonjudgmental self-analysis is not simple. When neither is real, we typically criticize ourselves for our flaws or fantasize about our brilliance. Each of us has a distinct set of "good" and "bad" features, although we are mostly ignorant of them. To reflect objectively on ourselves, we must quiet our minds and open our hearts, forgiving ourselves for our flaws and bestowing praise only where it is due.

Experience, Reflect, and Express

Simply said, reflective practice is when you think about or reflect on what you do. It's similar to the idea of learning from experience in that you think about what you did and what happened and figure out what you'd do differently next time. Self-awareness is a crucial component of emotional intelligence, and reflective practice can help you build it.

Individuals can benefit from developing a regular habit of reflective practice in the following ways:

  • Increased self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and emotional regulation capacity, as well as the ability to inspire, influence, and motivate others as a result.

  • Improved ability to make appropriate judgment decisions based on a feeling of risk and systemic impact

  • Increased ability for innovation by using an open-ended questioning strategy and listening to responses with an open mind.

  • The capacity for compassion toward oneself and others, as well as the ability to inspire trust by demonstrating trustworthiness.
