What is NDC?

NDC is an International Air Transport Association (IATA)-backed, XML-based data transmission standard that enables carriers to distribute a full range of products through travel agencies through significantly improved communications. NDC is open to any third-party, intermediary, provider, or non-IATA member to implement and use in terms of adoption.

How Will NDC Help Travel Agencies?

NDC has the potential to streamline a travel agent's workflow, making it easier to book an airline ticket, especially for corporate agents. This convenience and transparency will be extended to online travel bookings as well. NDC is a new approach to airline retailing that includes rich content for end-users.

Many airlines use the PSS System (Passenger Service Systems) to display flight availability that contains reservation information, fares, and schedules. At the time, Flight NDC was very important for airlines because it saved current data to PSS databases via the flight interface.
