10 ways to add a unique personal touch to your Christmas gifts
Posted: Nov 28, 2021
1. Make a personalized ornament
Ornaments are classic Christmas gifts that can be made easily and with virtually anything. This gift is the perfect way to tell someone you love them and it's easy enough for even a beginner crafter like me! All you need is an ornament, paint (I used acrylics!), and stencils.
2. Make a gift box
Gift boxes create any present look more special, especially when you make it yourself. All you need is some colorful paper, glue or tape, and a box! You can use any kind of decorative paper for this gift idea- tea towels, wrapping paper, etc. Just get creative! It's also nice to add handmade tags to your gifts to give them that extra special touch. You can find my tags here or make your own!
3. Make a mess-free manicure
Who doesn't want beautiful nails? This is the ideal gift for that difficult-to-buy-for friend! You'll only need nail paint, tape, and a container. This DIY only takes minutes to make, but it will be something your friends will cherish forever. I know they would love my Starry Night themed manicure!
4. Make a homemade candle
Candles are the ideal gift for the difficult-to-buy-for individual who has everything. You only need wax, wicks, and containers to create your own candles. After you've made your candle, all you need is a nice jar and a pretty label to make it look festive and ready to give!
5. Make yourself an advent calendar
This joyful Christmas ritual is ideal for the entire family to enjoy. All you need is a cardboard box, some paint, and some candy. This is also an easy gift for a child to make with a little help from mom and dad. This is also a terrific activity for the whole family to participate in. My family and I made one every year when I was younger and each year it got
6. Write an original poem or song for your loved one
I love this idea, especially for the musician or writer in your life. On Xmas Eve, write an original composition and share it with them. The nicest thing is that this present appears to have taken more hours and energy than it did. You can make your poem or song a love letter, a story of how you met your special someone, or even a list of all their favorite things.
7. Include a note to the receiver in which you express your admiration for them
This gift is for positive thinkers out there. Even if your special someone has done something to upset you this holiday season, write them a letter full of all the things you love about them. Tell them why they're special, funny, amazing, and anything else that comes to mind.
8. Draw something that symbolizes how much they mean to you
This works for any age! A picture of you and your loved one is a great gift idea, as is a drawing of a special memory and a picture of the two of you. This gift tends to be more sentimental and meaningful than anything else.
9. Find out their favorite holiday tradition and do it with them this year
I love this idea because it shows that you care enough about someone to try something new. If they have their own special holiday tradition- like pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving or watching the James Bond movies in order every Christmas season, do it with them! It's a wonderful way to express your loved ones just how much they mean to you while also allowing you to make some new memories. Buy some cute matching t-shirts and make it even more fun!
10. Create a playlist of songs that remind you of them, or songs they would like.
Instead of spending money on music, create a playlist of songs that remind you of your friends or family members. You can do this by collecting pictures, quotes, or anything else you think represents them. Another option is to make a playlist of their favorite bands. If they're not into mainstream music they probably have more obscure artists that they enjoy.
Conclusion
Christmas is not about the presents or Christmas cakes or how much money you spend, it's about showing those around you that they matter to you. This year don't stress out over what you can buy people; try one of these ten simple DIY Christmas gift ideas instead.
