Canada in winter is a true wonderworld. With tons of things to do and places to visit, you're sure to spend an epic winter if you are planning a trip to Canada. From hiking frozen waterfalls to chasing storms, get ready for a unique experience you can only live in Canada.

If you are wondering where to go in winter in Canada, here are a few options:

  • Visit a national park - hiking through snow, visiting frozen fairytale world, and experiencing the magic of the wilderness is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Banff National Park in winter is a magical place, offering plenty of things to see and do.
  • Experiencing the magic of Christmas in cities like Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto is a treat. Make sure to visit a Christmas market and attend a Santa Claus parade and Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
  • For people looking to go on an adventure and wanting to experience nature at its best, head to the north to do some storm watching (Advocate Harbour and Tofino are both great destinations to do just that), go after the northern lights in places like Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories or Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, go on a wildlife expedition in Elk Island National Park by Edmonton, Alberta, or in Bay du Nord Wilderness Reserve in Newfoundland - for a marine tour check out excursions from Vancouver.
  • For a more relaxed vacation consider booking a cabin, spending some pampering time at a nordic spa, or checking out a hot spring (Radium Hot Springs and Lussier Hot Springs are both great options) for the ultimate relaxation experience.
  • Make sure to check out some festivals too, don't miss the 12-day Ice Magic carving exhibition in Lake Louise, the Ice Castles attraction in Edmonton (you can even stay at an Ice Hotel!), Canada’s largest winter light festival in Niagara Falls, Montréal en Lumière (Montreal in Lights), the Toronto Light Festival, and in Vancouver, don’t miss Canyon Lights!

As you can see there are plenty of things to do in Canada come winter time - experience the magic of the holidays or go on a winter break to enjoy some of the best activities the country has to offer! What about you? What's your favorite thing to do during winter?
