Australia Day is once again right around the corner and it is a chance for the Australians to celebrate their country’s multi-cultural diversity. It is the day that remembers the landing of the First Fleet at Port Jackson in 1788. Australia holds various official ceremonies, public parades, concerts and other live events and all the states and territories in the country band together to make it a day to remember. Wherever you are and whatever you do be sure to remember to celebrate in a safe fashion.

Sydney is a cultural capital when it comes to diversity and the events it offers for this special day. Australia Day in the city begins with the WugulOra Morning Ceremony– a traditional smoking and dance ceremony of the Aboriginals, followed by the raising of flags on top of the Harbour Bridge and a performance of the national anthem. The premium Australia Day cruises in Sydney Harbour, especially the glass boat offering 360° views would be your ideal choice to view the harbour events, followed by some satisfying food and drinks. The Australia Day cruises 2022 lets you enjoy the harbour spectacles from the comfort of your seat and away from the busy crowd. A range of other activities will also be hosted in the harbour including the live musical performances in the Opera House and a fireworks show at Darling Harbour.

The river city known as Brisbane has made slight modifications to their Australia Day traditions including the famous fireworks show which has been moved from the South bank to the RNA Showgrounds in Bowen Hills. While the event is strictly for selected audiences, you can view them from many vantages outside the showgrounds. Few smaller ticketed fireworks shows and other fun activities are also being held outside the city in places like Redcliffe, Bongaree and even on the Sunshine and Gold Coast. You can always show up at Indigenous-owned markets and provide a much-need support for their businesses, in areas like Musgrave Park.

Perth, the capital of Western Australia is also the fourth most populous city in the country. People take their time to reflect, honour and celebrate the diverse area they call home by hosting events, concerts, markets, the world-renowned Skyworks and much more. The day starts off with a Birak Concert performed by the First Nation communities on the foreshores, followed by an Air Show and Entertainment Zone in Langley Park and Terrace Road. The day is concluded with a huge firework show on the Swan River, which is believed to be the biggest of such displays in the country.

Australia Day is celebrated with the same energy and spirit in most nations but their way of celebrating the special day can vary as in the case of Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.
