Micromax Canvas Win: Will it Fuel the windows Phones market

Micromax Mobiles India known to be the 2nd largest smartphone giant in the world and the 10th largest mobile manufacturer has introduced the new Canvas Win series unveiling its 2 new Window mobile phones, Canvas Win 121 and Canvas Win W092. Micromax has now joined the league to be the first Indian smartphone giant to launch a Windows based phone.

This is a milestone in the history of Indian smartphone that for the first time it brings together three pioneers of technology, Microsoft, Qualcomm and Micromax. Micromax has pioneered the industry of technology by launching affordable phones for the Indian buyers.

Micromax is now the first smartphone that has unveiled two phones, Windows 8.1 smartphone, Canvas Win 121 and Canvas Win W092 for Rs. 9500 and 6500 respectively. Micromax has gone beyond the Android by launching first Windows phone devices at such competitive prices. These smartphones have made their presence in July. It seems that the collaboration of Micromax and Microsoft is trying to attract the budget conscious user.

Design and Screen

The Canvas Win 121 has a 5" HD screen with IPS and a back cover made of leather. When it comes to the look of the phone, the device is very much similar like the previous phone of Canvas, named Canvas Turbo.

Its leather back does not make the handset attractive as compared to the phones of Nokia phones that come in the same price range of Lumia 630 that will cost you Rs. 11500. In terms of looks, this handset does not add much spark.

Micromax Canvas Win W092 features a 4" WVGA IPS Display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 SoC.

Hardware

Micromax is coming with a decent offer for Rs. 10000. Both handsets come with 1GB RAM along with a 32GB slot. The processor is Qualcomm 200 Snapdragon clocked at 1.2Ghz.

Both handsets have dual SIM capability.

Battery

Canvas Win 121 comes with a 2000mAh battery but Micromax but it does not specify the standby and talk time. Devices of Nokia like Lumia 630 comes with come with Li-Ion 1830mAh battery with specified talk time for different networks.

The Canvas W092 comes with a 1500mAh battery. Micromax is strong or not can be determined once if the device has been tested thoroughly. Users are inclined to switch from Micromax Android to Micromax Windows Phone, as they have better battery life.

Operating System

The best part is that both phones are running on Windows 8.1 OS. We can see Cortana, Microsoft’s answer to Google Now and Siri on Win W092. This feature cannot be spot in Win W121.

When it comes to app, Windows 8 is getting all apps, from Facebook to Instagram to Twitter. Those who are used to access the apps on a low budget device the experience for Windows Phone is quite different.

Final Words

Powered by Windows Phone 8.1 OS and Snapdragon 200 by Qualcomm, Canvas Win 121 and Win 092 have mastered the best of Microsoft, Qualcomm and Micromax that gives great performance, mobile experience mixed with features of work and fun.

Both devices support powerful processing, multi tasking and a dependable battery life. Windows Phone has a long way to go when it comes to app. What Nokia mobiles avoid by giving something different in terms of hardware and software when it is about Nokia Mix Radio and camera. Canvas W121 will not be the first option.
