The family that plays together stays together!

Intentionally planning, scheduling and executing a family night for your busy family can sometimes seem impossible, but the benefits of quality time together can bring your family together in ways you also thought were impossible. Research shows that a family night together can strengthen the bond between siblings, parents and extended relatives, help children do better in school, create social skills and generally produce a happier family environment!

Remember, family activities do not need to be extravagant or expensive and should not be stressful for you! These are nights to make memories and have fun. Below are five easy family night activities that kids will love!

  1. Trivia Night

Discover fun facts, bizarre info, moments in history and more with family trivia night you all can get on board with! For a more competitive environment, make it a game or challenge with other relatives or simply enjoy learning trivia questions and answers while relaxing on the couch together with snacks! To make this activity extra easy, check out these 250 trivia questions and answers for kids list here.

  1. Movie Night

Kids love a good movie night together, especially when it feels special. Rent or buy a new movie that everyone is excited for, have some new snacks/drinks, turn down the lights and turn the volume up! For an extra fun feel, make a makeshift fort or lounge area with pillows and blankets you can watch the movie on together.

  1. Game Night

You can break out the board games, cards or better yet–no supplies needed games! Gather around the table and let the competition begin! Great kids game ideas include, Uno, Checkers, Go-Fish, Spoons, Would-You-Rather, Sorry, Two Truths & a Lie, and Slap Jack.

  1. Camp Out

This idea does require a little more planning and supplies but will create some everlasting memories! Set up your tent (or picnic blanket) outside, along with lawn chairs, blankets, flashlights and snacks (s’mores anyone?) and enjoy the evening together exploring your own backyard. During the summer chase fireflies and grill hotdogs or the cooler months make a bonfire and stargaze.

  1. Dinner Party

Everyone can help with this one! Plus, you can make it however you want. Do your kids love to dress up? Then have a "fancy" dinner with candlelight, everyone in their favorite outfits and a special dinner menu. I love a good theme so have a pizza night with everyone making their own mini pizzas with fun toppings and Italian music in the background.

Try one of these five family night activities that your kids will love to create memories, feel closer together and slow down your busy schedule to enjoy the moments of family time.
