5 Ways to Spice Up Your Easter Hunts
Posted: Mar 08, 2022
Are you feeling like your Easter is a little ho-hum the past few years? Are the kids finding their eggs too easily? Or are you tired of the same old thing?
Make this the year to spice things up! The easiest way to add a splash of extra fun into Easter is by switching up your egg hunts and making them more creative and unique.
Here are the five ideas we like most! What you try may depend on your children’s ages, but one of them is sure to be an Easter winner!
1. A Glow in the Dark Hunt
First, instead of a morning hunt, why not make an evening one? Stick glow sticks inside of your eggs, then after you hide them turn out all the lights. The kids will have a blast finding well-hidden eggs in the dark!
2. Puzzle Pieces Competition
Next, if you have older kids, turn your egg hunt into a competition. Buy small puzzles and separate the pieces into separate eggs for each child. (Put a handful of pieces in each)
Then, the kids have to find all of their eggs and put together the puzzle. The first child to get their puzzle together wins!

3. The "Golden" Egg Hunt
Next, hide your eggs like you normally would except make one egg the "golden egg" that might have a gift card or larger amount of money in it.
A fun alternative is to put a "golden ticket" (like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) inside one special egg. When the hunt is over the child with this ticket can swap it out for a larger prize or cash.
4. The Basket Scavenger Hunt
Make your kids work for their Easter baskets!
Hide their baskets in a different room of the house. Then, put a letter to the location inside their eggs. For example, if you hide it in the closet, you’d have 6 different eggs with the letters "c," "l," "o" etc. in them. Once the child finds the eggs with all the letters he/she unscrambles them to make the word and get their basket.
You could also hide full clues in the eggs and have the kids follow the clues until they find the baskets.
5. Adult Easter Egg Hunt
Finally, easter eggs aren’t just for kids! If you have adults in the home doing the hunt, you can get even more creative. Instead of eggs, hide things that a group of grownups would want like coffee and tea packs or adult beverages. Or skip the candy all together and put gum, gift cards, and money in your eggs. Teens and adults love this!
In Conclusion
I hope you found these creative hunts helpful! As kids get older, it can be harder and harder to make Easter exciting for them. These creative solutions should keep everyone happy!
