The girl is pressurized by society to abort that might cause even life risk for her and she is even too young to take this pressure. The abortion procedure may not have much difference in most of the states almost every state doesn’t permit the girl to abort without family’s prior consent. There are instances when family does not support the decision of abortion and there is a risk to her life court can interfere and play the positive role in her welfare even if family is against the decision.

Generally practiced and preferred procedure for termination of pregnancy is medical abortion that includes specific medication by following certain sequence of dosage. This dose usually includes mifepristone and misoprostol that are enough to terminate pregnancy however if pregnancy symptoms still found another procedure is performed called evacuation procedure.

While these abortion procedures do not put serious side effects on teenager, the emotional belonging with abortion may still persist, and that is very disturbing for teenager. This emotional phase may cause anxiety and end up on depression and stress. It is highly recommended that teenage girl remain under special care during the first trimester of pregnancy.

On the other hand surgical abortion has serious effects and higher risk than medical abortion. Here is a list of common problems women face after a surgical abortion:-

  • Damage to basic organs such as uterus during the abortion procedure
  • Skin infection due to high potency medication
  • Pain and weakness
  • Excessive amount of bleeding

Some facts about teenagers who have taken abortion are:-

  • Teenage girls who have taken abortion have severe behavioral changes.
  • Many teenagers start to use drugs and alcohol due to emotional effect of abortion.
  • After abortion, girls also have suicidal feeling and a large percentage who have taken abortion even have attempted suicide.
  • Teenagers who have aborted are hard to cope with even after counseling.

It is therefore essential to spread awareness about ill factors of abortion among teenagers how abortion can make changes in psychological and physical condition. On the other hand family should understand that pressure leading to abortion can put adverse effects on teenager’s life. Family should support and guide the teenager to overcome the emotional phase and aftereffects of abortion.
