Telangana Badi-Bata drive Fetching Good Results: HYD7AM

Hyderabad News: Telangana’s Initiative to bring kids to Government schools through Badi-Bata is driving good results for the state government. During this academic year, parents are willing to send their children to Government and local body schools across the state of Telangana.

According to the latest reports, about one Lakh two two thousand Nine Hundred fifty-six students have joined the government schools in Telangana state. This data is as of June 18, 2022. These students have joined across different classes from 1 to X standards. Accords to officials the drive will continue for another couple of weeks till the month-end.

This year parents of students in private schools are keen on enrolling their kids in government schools and according to eh latest data about 3000 children joined government schools leaving private schools only on June 18th, 2022. This shows the change in parents’ mindset and also the standards of Government schools in Telangana state.

Experts opinioned that the change in the mindset of the parents is because the Telangana government decides to introduce English medium from classes 1 to VIII in all the state government schools and also in local body schools across the state. Even teachers were also provided with the required skill set for the same and about 1.04 lakh teachers of Telangana government schools were trained in collaboration with the Azim Premji University. The government is providing bilingual textbooks too.

Along with this, the government schools in Telangana state have given a facelift by providing all the amenities required for students. The improvement in amenities across schools in Telangana state is through the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi/Mana Basti-Mana Badi program, a flagship initiative of the State government.

This initiative will help the 26,065 schools, including 18,240 primaries, 3,164 upper primaries, and 4,661 high schools to get a makeover and this will be done in phases across the coming next years. This initiative will cost an estimate of around Rs 7,289.54 crores.

About 9,123 schools will be benefited from the first phase of which 5,399 are primary schools, 1,009 are upper primary schools and 2,715 are high schools. The schools are being developed and improved with basic amenities that will be based on 12 infrastructure parameters that include toilets with running water facility, electrification, drinking water supply, furniture for students and staff, painting of the entire school, and major and minor repairs, among others.
