Mina (The City of Tents)

Mina is a valley about 3 miles east of Mecca, where pilgrims spend the first day of the annual Hajj in existing air-conditioned white tents. The rite of Jamrat is also performed in the Mani valley during which the pilgrims ‘stone the devil’.

Muzdalifah

Another holy site in Mecca is the plain of Muzdalifah, located between Mina and Arafat. Spending the whole night in Muzdalifah is the biggest ritual of Hajj. Pilgrims choose the open sky instead of a tent in Muzdalifah to go to bed at night and wake up early for prayers. Pilgrims pick up small stones from the same field to perform the Rami ritual.

Cave Hira (Mount Al Noor)

Cave Hira where the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Holy Prophet in 610 BC. This cave is located on Mount Al-Noor. Allah revealed the first verses of Surah Al-Alaq to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) through the angel Gabriel in this cave. He (PBUH) spent his time in meditation even before the revelation of the verses in the Cave of Hira.

Factory of Kiswah at Umm Al-Jud

In this famous factory, the cloth covering the Kaaba is made of gold and silver embroidered cloth. This is the most respected cover for Muslims. While praying in Masjid-ul-Haram and during Hajj or Umrah, you can visit this highly respected cloth. When visiting the holy city of Makkah, be sure to visit the Kiswa factory where you can observe the preparation of this sacred Cover.

Masjid e Ayesha

Ayesha Mosque or Tanim Mosque is located about 4 miles south of Makkah. This holy mosque as a meeqat is close to Mecca. This is the place where Hazrat Ayesha (RA) had to enter ihram during the Farewell Hajj on the orders of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Today, most Muslims choose this mosque for their second or third Umrah.

Jannatul Mu’alla

This holy cemetery is only 10 minutes away from Masjid al-Haram. Many members of the Prophet’s family and companions are buried in the same cemetery. Family members include Bibi Khadija (first wife of the Holy Prophet), Qasim (son of the Holy Prophet), Abdullah bin Zubair, Abu Talib, daughter of Abu Bakr and the family of the Holy Prophet. Other people are also involved. In this cemetery, everyone can visit the graves of these great personalities.

Auction House Makkah

The Mecca Auction House, located in the Hilton Tower, is a major tourist attraction in Mecca. Visitors can see the ancient gems, unique antiques and many other interesting things there. This auction house also gives you the feeling of a shopping centre where you can see people bidding on things.

Mount Abu Qubays, the site of the Battle of Badr, Masjid Al Jaaranah and Mount Thawr are also important sites in Mecca. Indeed, the entire city of Mecca is a sacred tourist destination for Muslims.

There is no requirement to visit these places only during Umrah and not for Hajj. Muslims can visit all these places whenever they go to Mecca.
