Is jQuery worth learning in 2023? So, it's very important for new developers who are just starting and trying to figure out which technologies they should learn to make themselves more employable and to be able to build projects successfully. So according to web technology surveys websites, over 80% of all websites on the Internet use some form of JavaScript. And of all those websites that use JavaScript, 96% of them still use jQuery. So, there are so many websites that use jQuery that it makes sense to know the basics of jQuery. At some point in your career, you'll be working on other people's projects that were built a few years ago and many of them use jQuery it will make your life much easier if you know the basics of jQuery. For this reason, I would highly recommend learning at least the basics of jQuery if you don't need to dig too deep into learning jQuery.

Another thing to consider since jQuery comes with Bootstrap. Bootstrap is used as a template in many websites to create robust websites. So, a lot of the plugins in the features are part of Bootstrap and require the use of jQuery. Therefore, jQuery is pre-installed if you are using Bootstrap. This alone is a big reason why you should consider learning the basics of jQuery.

A lot of people say jQuery is a dying language. It may be, but for the foreseeable future, we will continue to use jQuery in existing websites and applications. Just use jQuery because it's so easy to use. Sometimes it makes sense to do DOM interactions and ajax requests and things like that with jQuery just for ease of use.

Moreover, in many current apps for developers, jQuery is still mentioned quite frequently, as they also need to support previous apps they are building. Therefore, companies should continue to support jQuery as part of a web application or part of their website. For example, even if you look at open-source websites or open-source platforms like WordPress, many plugins still use jQuery. Therefore, many of these open-source content management systems and frameworks still use jQuery, and that's why we still need to be able to support jQuery. For this reason, I recommend learning the basics of jQuery, while it might seem quite dated compared to most of the new JavaScript frameworks coming out, it will still be very useful to learn the basics of the jQuery library so that you are ready to take advantage of existing code.
