I have scoured the Land Down Under in search of incredible photos for over seven years now and have come across a wealth of utterly jaw dropping spots. The fascinating coral reefs, the pristine rainforests, glacier carved mountains, secluded beaches, kaleidoscopic skies, the endless sapphire ocean, world-heritage edifices–you name it! It is a truly spectacular place to take your camera! But as the legends say, much of the beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

If you're looking for some awesome spots in Australia to get that stellar shot, here are my suggestions!

Dinner Cruise, Sydney Harbour

The dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour is not only a journey for your palates but for your eyes as well! Right in the heart of the city, you get to cruise past some of the most iconic landmarks including the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison, the grinning moonface of Luna Park, Circular Quay and more! Take a DSLR with you to get those long exposures and maybe even experiment with time-lapses. A catamaran dinner cruise lets you enjoy these unique angles from its three large outer decks, making it the ideal choice!

If the dinner cruise lets you enjoy the city skyline under the glow of the night skies, a Sydney lunch cruise offers you the ultimate opportunity to enjoy these sights under the sun! So it is imperative that you experience both to fully appreciate the beauty of the Emerald City!

Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales

If you’re a beginner looking to experiment and practise your craft this stunning yet underrated spot is your best friend. Brimming with snow activities, alpine hiking, mountain biking, waterfalls, limestone gorges, gum trees, wildflowers and more, you can capture a wide range of shapes, colours, textures and perspectives. The location is stunning in any season–whether you're hiking through summer or skiing through the winter.

Wilson’s Promontory, Victoria

Dubbed as ‘Wilson’s Prom’ by the locals, this well-renowned national park covers the southernmost tip of the Australian mainland and is home to an astonishing diversity of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and a wide range of bird species. Try to wear comfy walking shoes as you will be walking a lot here, so prepare accordingly. Some of the popular things to do here are diving, hiking, fishing, kayaking and swimming.

Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory

Being the biggest national park in the country and its most spectacular as well, Kakadu served as a popular movie location for many hollywood blockbusters including the famous Crocodile Dundee. The park offers some excellent angles and plenty of photo ops that are suitable for all levels of photographers. Many diverse wildlife, including saltwater crocodiles and tropical birds call this park home. This cultural landmark also offers insights into the original people of the land and their way of living, and even some of their indigenous rock carvings!

Great Ocean Road

Yes, I saved the best for last. Millions of years ago, when mankind was as rare as dinosaur fossils are now, Mother Nature carved out humongous chunks of coast along the southern shores of Australia. Now, the limestone remnants of this rich coastline tower out of the thrashing waves like giant mystery sculptures.

Getting up close with the Twelve Apostles is one major highlight of cruising the Great Ocean Road. This 664km drive is one of the most scenic drives in the entire nation! Although you can finish it in a day, stretching it out for at least three days gives you plenty, and I mean plenty of photo ops. You can even take it a step further and enjo a bird’s eye view by hovering over them in a chopper!
